Hi

Do you know if somebody can create or sell already made Polarizing filter for DR500GW-HD? When I was driving on Sunday in very strong sun then on video registered by DR500GW-HD I saw part of my car dashboard reflected in front window that of course has an impact of video quality of what is happening on the road in front of my camera.

You worry too much look at my posts They do it in all cars almost I just live with it and its not so bad when you show it full screen on a PC

Maybe you are right but what will happen if I cannot read license plates of other car because of this issue. I saw that other car camera manufactures sells filters for their cameras

Heres what mine look like and I havent had any trouble reading plates as they move around in the frame and you can pause the video and do a screen grab and blow it up in photoshop or similar

Scroll down 3 posts as you will see the reflections are barely above the bonnet line and if you have a numberplate there you will have more to worry about than reading it LOL

Even in your pics a plate would rarely be in the reflection and the number of times you would need to read it hopefully would be very rare

Angle of the window has a lot to do with how much reflection you'll suffer and any negative impact that might have on the video

care to share details? ^

I'm very annoyed with the glare from mine because of the windshield angle.

Or to avoid the hassle of improvised polarizing filters (since Blackvue doesn't support them out-of-the-box), you can use a black dashmat.

I bought one and now I can't do without it, tbh.

The only downside, is that some people, other than me, find it less attractive.

Think I saw a post ages ago, someone cut a circle from those 3D glasses from the cinema.
DIY job that you could maybe attempt.

Does it fit well? Maybe filter should be little bit larger (28mm) or smaller (25mm)?

I have found such a set of fiters with diffrent sizes: http://opteka.com/fk5.aspx but before I will order it I want to be sure that I choose proper size.

Best regards

Hi All,

I think I have very good solution:

Magnetic 16mm GGS kit UV filter/CPL Polarizer/Lens Hood: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnetic-16mm-GGS-kit-UV-filter-CPL-Polarizer-Lens-Hood-/110550182970?pt=US_Camera_Camcorder_Accessory_Bundles&hash=item19bd4dec3a

Magnetic 18mm GGS kit UV filter/CPL Polarizer/Lens Hood: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnetic-18mm-GGS-kit-UV-filter-CPL-Polarizer-Lens-Hood-/220845646078?pt=US_Camera_Camcorder_Accessory_Bundles&hash=item336b6d20fe

Now I have to go to my car and measure how big is lens in DR5000GW-HD.

Best regards,

Marek

^ That looks like a very good solution. Please let us know what you end up with. :)

Did anybody get a chance to measure the lens to see if any of these filters will work?

Mio... What setup did you go for? Got some links and a small How-To?

yeah Mio, I want to know exactly how you did that and what you used and how you did it. video would be great on how its done like do you need to remove existing lens or is the filter put on top of it?? I know nothing about this.

lens - BL03618BIR-WF
the viewing angle, the same as on the DR400
Cons - a little longer, and looks to the DVR
The filter is there, I insert it into the lens. It can be worn on the original lens

let me get this straight, the white part in the photos of yours with the glass on it is the polarised lens? and that can just sit over the original lens? correct?
but there is an option to replace the entire lens of the camera with the one in the link above that I don't really want to do.
where do we get this polarised lens from? the white part with glass sitting next to the camera I your photos? do you have a link for this?
