Just got this dash cam a couple of days ago and I like it so far, however one thing I didn't realize is that my car doesn't have a power socket that switches off with the engine. So I'm wondering if any one has experience with the car battery drain of this device when left in the car for extended periods of time, or even better, actual wattage numbers?
Also which from the following would have the best battery drain/convenience tradeoff?
- Leave it plugged and powered and filming.
- Leave it plugged and powered but with motion detection enabled.
- Power it off manually but leaving it plugged.
- Unplug it every time (rather inconvenient as the socket is in the center console)
- Rewire the socket so it only works in ON/ACC (I'd rather not to, but it's better than having the battery drained).
Thanks in advance for any inputs!
