I have a 0806 Mini replacement for a 0803 all seemed fine but there is an issue it seems like the power is no good ie keeps going on and off i have a 0803 rear facing and i can just forget it it just works, all excited thinking the 0806 would be a big improvement but sadly not, i have a power fused direct from the battery into a hard wire kit the one that switches off if voltage goes below 11.6 v.
basically it sort of works but it also turns on and off a lot i can tell when its going to go because the screen flickers and goes a bit funny.

im interested to find out if others have the same issue

Hi Gary, Have you tried the 0806 with the Cigar socket power lead to see if perhaps the Direct lead is faulty.

Yes I have but im thinking of say trying anotyer lead as well

I had the same problem before I returned my 0806 due to an audio noise issue. I found the solution was just to reset the 0806. Not sure why it "freaked" out in the first place. The only change I made was to power the 0806 with a USB adapter instead of the supplied cigarette lighter plug or hardwire kit.

Amazon are refunding my money so all good, I think it's a battery issue on my one as if you power it up from a usb iys fine but if you disconect it you cant turn it on so im thinking the internal battery is faulty, I will be sending it back and putting my spare mini 0805 to see how it goes

I wonder if I'm not better waiting for the 0807, which is supposed to have a capacitor instead of a battery.

Please excuse my ignorance but how does that work if there is no battery

I think the 0807 is a replacement for the 0801, the cheap camera in the range.

There have been a few 0806 recently with power issues, probably battery related, seems like a bad batch of something. However they do seem to be selling in significant numbers so the odd one with problems doesn't indicate that most have problems. Recent feedback on ebay all looks very positive.

It has a capacitor which contains enough power for about 4 seconds, just long enough to write the last of the video and close the files cleanly. Means that you can't use it outside of the car, or take it off the mount for playback or setup.

Nigel, is the battery in the 0806 easy to replace, should I need to do this myself in the future? If you have a link to the process that would be awesome.
