Recommended extension cable for rear camera?

I just had the cam installed at a shop and its a bit short to reach the rear window, its already routed to the trunk just need a bit to reach the window
i tried looking for extensions but those found on amazon didnt have great reviews and didnt want it to fail

True, while it is USB plugs as we know them that are used, and + and - 5 volt are where they are supposed to be, everything else are not to the USB standard

It's also a 10 pin USB connector, not a normal USB connector, even though it looks like one

8 meter length cables are available. The camera comes with a 6 meter cable

Ahhhhhh crud, as the 8m cable is $30 i might just cut the cable in the middle and solder some wire to extend it

$30? I think your looking at the wrong cable. Should be less than $20.
Making it longer than 8 meter probably won’t end well.

Check again price is lower now.


Cable can’t be extended. It uses more wires than your standard USB cable with a special twist and extra shielding. The last customer that try to cut and splice without asking us first damaged the camera.

Was able to reroute the cable to the roof and had enough to mount to the rear window
