Detail Review:
Unboxing Video:

This dashcam has a unique design.

1. The mount clips on rear view mirror but it doesn't cover the whole mirror like regular rear view mirror dashcams.
Spring loaded clip mount is adjustable to fit different size rear view mirror and also can be angled left to right to adjust the FOV.

2. Another unique feature is the 2" LCD screen slides out from the body when fiddling with menu settings and slides in to hide inside the body.

Package contents:
  1. Papago GoSafe 200 Dash Camera (Dimensions: 2.8″ x 2.5″x 1.0″)
  2. Clip mount for rear view mirror
  3. Mini USB car charger
  4. mini USB to USB cable
  5. Product Manual and Warranty Card
  6. GPS Module --> This is optional accessory to buy separately.
DSC02834-Papago GoSafe GS200-US.jpg

The camera is pretty much black except some chrome polish on lens housing tip but doesn't show when looking from the front.
Lens housing is very big compared to the actual size of lens glass in the middle.
Build quality is very good.

Buttons and features:
Top: Power button, AV out, microSD slot, mini USB charging port and GPS port.
From left to right: Papago GoSafe 200 GS200-US, Discovery DC200, Dome G90 7S.

DSC02846-Papago GoSafe GS200-US-Discovery DC200.jpg

All buttons are on the either side of the slide out 2" LCD screen:
Left of LCD has REC/Event and OK buttons.
Right of LCD has UP and Down buttons.
Back of the camera has mount attachment slots.
The mount just slides in and locks in place with some force.

Folders and Files:
Very simple folder structure.
It just has one folder called 'MOVIE' under 'PAPAGO' and file names have date time so it's helpful to find video clips.
Papago GoSafe GS200-US Folder Files.jpg

File size and VBR:
3 minute clip is around 287mb in size.

Overall bit rate : 13.1 Mbps
Video

GPS logger works good and gets signal pretty quick and registrator viewer shows the GPS info.

Papago GoSafe GS200-US GPS Logger.jpg

There is a setting in the GS200 to turn GPS on/off and it was logging info even at off position so I assume on is to get the speed info in the video.
Will confirm that later.

GPS on setting doesn't put stamp on the video but does display it on the LCD.

Night (late evening) screenshots and high/low beam:
Night video quality is pretty good.

Video from underground parking garage:
Audio replaced:

Overall, it's a very decent dashcam with good audio and video quality.
Has great wide angle.
The camera mounts onto the rear view mirror and is very discrete from outside as it looks kinda part of the mirror.
If you don't have auto dimming mirror, you may have to adjust angle when flipping to night position and vice versa.

For those with auto dimming, make sure not to block the light sensor otherwise it'll make it switch to night mode.

There is new firmware available.
@PAPAGO! There is a problem with firmware version on the site.
The site mentions to use FWGS150A for serial #G200432 or lower but it never works.
I tried the FWGS200A even though my serial is lower and it works.
Now I have 20150811 dated firmware. Previous version was from 20150502.

Product GoSafe200
Firmware: FWGS200A Please download this version if you have Serial #G200432 or higher

Firmware: FWGS150A Please download this version if you have Serial #G200432 or lower

Other than that, it's great.
It removes big yellow logo from bottom left and now has small font on the bottom left corner. Very good improvement.
Also menu icons are on the screen that were missing before.

Here is a screenshot (compare to screenshots before the FW update above):

Have you made any attempt to disassemble this? I can hear the retractable screen vibrate when attached to my mirror which results in a horrible buzzing sound in videos, so I would like to try to add some sort of padding to absorb the vibration. But so far, no luck at figuring out how to take it apart since there are no visible screws and I don't want to try the wrong thing and not be able to put the camera back together.

I have the same rattling issue but I think if you put some foam between the rearview and the clamps, it should fix that.

I decided to get a little crazy this morning and pulled out the electronics repair kit. The silver side pieces pop right off and there are two tiny screws on each side. Once I took off the back there really isn't any good way to pad the inside, at least, not in a way that might not cause other problems. I think I'm just going to get a thick piece of black felt and tape it on to the lip of the front of the screen. It may not retract completely into the camera but I'm hopeful it will get rid of that rattle.

Did you happen to notice what kind of chipset was inside? I was always curious. I could never find the information , and did not want to open mine up since when I open things they have a habit of not making it back together.
Thanks

No, I didn't go that deep for the very same reason. It did not look like I would be able to find it without removing a few more small screws and not knowing how it all goes back together.

That's okay. It is just a little bothering when a camera manufacture tries to hide specs (Garmin does this as well) and I don't want to tare apart and possibly break a decent working camera to find out.
