Hi everyone,

Canadian user here. Was wondering if other U3000 PRO users can share if they experience the following. I've tried consulting the manual but it doesn't look like it has the answers I'm looking for.

On my other vehicle with a regular U3000 (non pro), The security led doesn't turn on unless the radar detects motion.

1) Having installed a U3000 PRO + iVolt Xtra recently, while in radar parking mode the front security LED is permanently on. Is this normal? There are new menu options for (Disabled/Continuous Mode/Parking Mode/Continuous+Parking). This behaviour is present with the setting toggled to Parking Mode or Continuous+Parking. I don't have access to the car at the moment so I haven't had the chance to see if Continuous Mode changes things.
2) On my U3000 there is an option to enable or disable the rear security LED via app. This option is no longer present on my U3000 PRO. Is this consistent with what you guys see?

Hello,

We do apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you

Upon checking with our development team, we have confirmed that the front light bar behavior you are experiencing is functioning as designed.
While the "Security LED" setting in the app controls the idle recording patterns (the blinking light that signals the camera is active), the U3000 PRO is programmed to trigger the light bar during specific Motion or Impact events regardless of the LED toggle. This serves as a visual confirmation that the camera has successfully triggered a protected recording during an event.

Technical Summary

  • Security LED "Disabled": Disables the constant blinking/pulsing while parked or driving.
  • Event Trigger: The light bar will still illuminate briefly when the G-sensor or Motion sensor is tripped to indicate a saved clip is being generated.
Because this is hardcoded into the current firmware to ensure the user (and potential intruders) knows an event is being recorded, there is currently no setting to disable the light bar for these specific triggers.

We have shared your feedback with our product development team.

@Thinkware Dash Cam Thanks for checking and providing a clear explanation!

And just to confirm - enabling/disabling the Rear Security LED is also not an option at the moment?

I just investigated this topic for another person. The U3000 Pro rear camera does not have a security LED. The case for the U3000 and U3000 Pro looks similar [white strip where U3000 rear camera has a security LED], but the updated U3000 Pro rear camera does not have a security LED inside of the camera. That's why there is no setting for the rear camera security LED in the U3000 Pro camera settings.

Thanks for looking into this. That's an odd design choice on Thinkware's part, since the U3000 has one. Driven by cost cutting perhaps?

@Thinkware Dash Cam

I have tried setting the LED Toggle to "Continuous" today and I could not get the LED to trigger when motion/impacts are detected while parking. Audible alerts are heard, but the front LED never illuminates upon impact detection. Could this in fact be a bug?
