I have SG9665GC ordered thru Amazon pending 6/8 shipment.
but now I'm wondering if I should've gotten the SGZC12RC instead?

I know that both cameras have the same sensor (although in the snowy day comparison video the SGZC12RC appears to have sharper video) but why would someone pick one over the other?

My current plan is to use SG9665Gc as the front camera and my A1118C as the rear camera. do I just power the front camera with one cigarette lighter socket and the read one with the 2nd socket?

Do I have this right? If I want parking mode then I would get the SGZC12RC and a hardwire kit?
If that's the case, then wouldnt I need 2 SGZC12RC? 1 for the front and 1 for the back and end up with 2 LCD consoles? would you also use the same hardwire kit for both cameras?

finally, can I just go to my mechanic for the hardwiring? i dont know and dont want to do it myself.

thanks!

You don't have to hardwire it if you don't want to. You can enjoy proper parking mode with the camera powered by an external power bank. Video by @niko ...

I regularly run 4 different cameras, including an SG9665GC, two Mobius cams and one other one (in experimental rotation) simultaneously using two power banks when I am away from my vehicle. I'll get many hours of service during my travels throughout the day and have never returned to my vehicle to find a depleted power supply. One of these days I will hard wire the whole set-up but until that day, portable external power banks work fine for full time "parking mode".

In theory Panorama S / G / X1 should run 60-70 hours of constant- or parking mode recording with my 13'000 mAh Anker E4 external battery pack. Considering it's nearly 1y old, I would assume it should run now around 48h with Panorama 1ch series dashcams.

ok so i can use an external battery pack to power the SGZC12RC in parking mode. what if I get 2 SGZC12RCs? what do you do with the 2nd LCD console?

taken from Street guardian's website description:

"X1 cameras can be discretely mounted in front-, rear windows or on side door of your car. Basically you may have 4 channel 1080p 30Fps discretely mounted camera system, if you buy 4 set of X1 "

if you get 4 cameras, then you have 4 LCD consoles?

You need one DVR main unit per camera correct. Each SGZC12RC is an independent single channel system and provides extra redundancy.
For example. we have two main units 1 stacked on top of the other in the glove box of our mustang. (for a dual channel setup)

Yeah thats the tradeoff these days :( but i think before the year is over we will see just as good dual cameras with both cameras on a wire like the X1
Maybe next year we will see a really good 4 chanel systems with 4 cameras on wires and 1 central unit.

You dont really need to see the screen all the time, so after innitial setup you could hide the headunits just about any (dry ) place.
Maybe put them on a bord or somthing and stash that under the seat.

.

I guess I will just stick with 2 cameras with no parking mode for now. really not into dealing with all the central units and wires and external battery pack.

hehe i wish i had a 2015 Mustang, but since i have to pay for 3 cars to get one i have to make do with a motorized shoebox :(
Allso gas prizes here beeing 2X that of the US put a damper on things. ( 6.5 dollars / gallon ATM )

You could get one of the other panorama dashcams, they have the best parking mode and is allso top of the line footage.
BUT they are not as stealthy as the little camera on the X1

I think i will hardwire my next front camera, and then reverse into public parking spots to increase my chance of capturing any one messing with my car.

At home i have a IP camera on where my car is parked, zoomed in a little and whith glorious 1080p i stand a good chance of getting a image night or day i can use to track any crook down and do a Judge Dredd on him. :p

YOU ARE THE LAW

I got the 2015 mustang :) .

2013 here
Here are some photos, you'll see
2 SGZC12RC (1 front, 1 rear) with 128GB cards
Main units are in the glovebox powered via PANOBDP MotoPark.

1 SG9665GC up front (for redundency and testing)

and an escort radar detector. (Soon to be replaced by something more stealthy/hidden)

man I love some of them American cars, wish they had a lot of them down under.

nice BAWSS. how did you route the cables into the glove compartment so you can close it? thx

Most glove compartments i come across seem to be open from behind, while i do have my wires going thru the front ATM its only cuz i am a lasy bastard that have not dont it right yet.
From below in the footwell you should be able to guide the wires up behind the open glove compartment so you can get to them there, it can be some what of a yoga exercise, at least for a semi rigid old bastard like me.

Not sure about mounting brackets for the X1 / SGZC12RC, but unboxing / reviews on youtube or here should tell.

Glove compartments have access from behind or sides. As a very last option you can drill 1 or 2 wholes to run cables.
Main unit cam be attached to the glove box "floor" with velcro.

Yeah you dont want the main units bashing around down there.

My old cctv setup i had so many wiers they would bundle up to a 1 inch thick bundle, all routed from behind and then up and over the rear end of the glove box.

I predict a 99% chance for a tool less install when it come to that part of the routing of cables into the glove compartment..

Thanks, yes there is an opening in the back center of the glove box for cables. I have the rubber Matt between the two units. This glovebox has a raised center floor so the cameras stay put nicely. I take corners pretty hard as you can imagine and they don't move. :) I might add Velcro like Niko mentioned

I can see there is a space in glove compartment for 2 more X1 for side windows ;)

No kidding, - I had this crazy plan in my head to use whole gloves compartment for custom built 4 x X1 units, the way only 4 displays can be seen when open it. Memory cards slots can be extended and brought to front part and position them near each screen. Connect each unit to 4-way screen splitter and from there run to in-car headunit AV-input with 5-10 sec modulator to show automatically picture from 4pcs X1 on the headunit screen when starting up a car, after 10 sec headunit would go into normal last known playback mode. Also to extend each blue recording LED to the cluster board, which would show me status of recording of each dashcam.
Ohhh, ... those fantasies are not hard to fulfil, - just a lack of time :(
