SJCAM SJ7 Star Cam - Real 4K Ambarella A12 Sony IMX117 Touch Screen Mic Gyro

I think the YI 4k+ can only do 120 FPS at 1080p, but it would indeed be cool if it could do 240 FPS at 1080, but as it is using the same sensor as the old YI 4K camera i think thats the limiting factor on 1080p performance.

I dont consider 60 -> 30 FPS as slow motion though it is in fact half the speed of the original, but yeah it is without doubt a nice feature.

Also the chipset in the YI4k+ make me wonder when we will be able to yell at out dashcams instead of pressing the manual event button 😀

Also i think the YI 4K+ will be in another prize bracket.

I still haven't seen the SJ7 Star, im spinning so fast in my office chair i have been forced to replace the old one with the one i got as a x-mas present from my dear old mother.
I think when the SJ7 finally get here i will have to power it by my USB power bank, cuz i will be out of the door right away to use it.

Only good thing is my new phone have shipped out of China 3 days before i expected it to do 🙂 so i have been readying a holder for my car made of the original car holder for a Samsung galaxy 2 phone and a brodit flexible dock for the UMI phone.
120 fps seems tops for any of them at 1080p
I 've seen a review of Gopro's 1080 @120 fps described as" looking like a robot"!

Yeah, i have asked them if a yi 4k++ with another sensor might be on the horizon, while 120 FPS is cool at 1080p, 240 FPS make me giddy as a schoolgirl just thinking about what i could do with that.

But my question have been stonewalled.

It all depends on the speed of the object and the distance it's travelled between frames which in turn is also dictated by the shutter speed. Also, the method by which the frames are reduced to 30fps, will affect the smoothness of the video eg discard frames and you'll get judder with fast moving objects but sharp individual stills, whereas blending frames will give smoother movement but still quality will suffer as effectively the footage is interlaced.

Some 120fps videos shot on GoPro (1080P):

Try asking on FB. I was able to get a no answer to a question about parts availability for my Xiaomi yi cam.

Hey Kamkar
Log on to elProducente.com, He has a blog/news article about Yi 4k+ from the CES electronics show; the cam with H2 will do max 240fps at 720p and you know about the 4k @60., but it apparently accepts mic. in and incorporates a USB-C like the Hero 5 and uses the IMX 377 .
And as though that's not enough, does it all at a max. 120 Mbps!

they have the potential to knock the wind out of GoPro with this one, as long as they get the sales/service/support right, no doubt it will be a bit cheaper as well

They have a habit of " getting it right", an example is the app with almost perfect reliability!

I wouldn't say it's a habit, they've made some blunders along the way with some of the products also, as long as they're heading in the right direction though they have the potential to do some damage to GoPro, much more so than any other contender I've seen to date

Gopro is like Denmark, they had a really good thing going, but then they just blew it and now they are just,,,,,meh 🙂

With 120 mbit i sure do hope the camera allow for more than 32 Gb memory cards 😀 i am sure i would have to put a stronger graphic card in my computer to handle 4K/60 ( my pinnacle software use the GFX card to process stuff )

My Nividia gtx 570 is lagging to say the least, there is some really powerfull cards out there now and at fairly good prizes too, at least powerfull compared to my current GFX card.

I can't record more then 100mb on my sd cards . What is wrong? I do not think it is because of the firmwere.... I use smartbuy sd card 8gb 10 class.

And what should i do? Do i need to return it?

I have a unlocked AMD 8 core 4.2 turbo with an GTX 750, expandable RAM to 32 GB.

first thing is contact whoever you bought it off
Earlier in this thread he said it came from Banggood. The SJ7 supplier I'm watching from Ebay keeps moving the long delivery date further down range(May). The Yi 4k + is looking more attractive!
