Taking out memory card when camera still on?

TWO Thinkware's U10002CH (rear cams used as side cams)
I like how the cables are in the little compartment, but the only
problem is that it's very difficult to unplug them.
you have to sort of wiggle them out, which can not be good for the connections over time ..?
Is it ok to just take the memory card out of the camera without unhooking the cables?

It's a pity that the card slot is on the top (same with f750) because
that side is blocked by the "mirror console" of the car.
 
I don't have a F770 (have the F750), but isn't there a Power Button on the F770?
If so, just power it off before removing the SD Card.
If the SD Card is removed when the power is on, and is being written to, I'm pretty sure you will wind up with a corrupt file on the Card.

Wow, the power button, how on earth didn't I think about that LOL

I've never used it.
what happens When u switch it off and there after start the car again ?
will it switch on by itself?
