If you watch to :27 you'll notice the white van trailer rock to the right. It just hit the parked truck it was trying to park next to.
The police did arrive before I left. :)

The car carrier it hit, (and the one ahead of it) are parked in a 'no parking' area.
You can see a large black smudge on the side of the white van, between the black pickup, and Xtra lettering.

I'm not sure if that's black paint transfer, or pickup tire smears? :)
Good parking job! (Glad I was still stuck out on the road, even though that truck cut in front of me...)
:)

Trailer rocked pretty good, empty trailer?

Yeah I'm gonna say that's a tire mark from the dually up top. Looked like it may have done some good damage to the dually itself, like smashing the taillight and corner of the bed, which doesn't take much when they're made of fiberglass!

Noooo he ruined that mint looking trailer

Didn't notice if it's empty. 'Usually' a loaded trailer will have a seal on the rear door, or at least a padlock. I was too annoyed at the long wait to get fuel, and dealing with assorted idiots at the time to notice. :)

Same truck stop chain, different day, different state.....and the more problems.

:)

I thought initially Bucees (or some) had truck parking/fuel, but most I see recently don't.
One that was going up near Houston (somewhere) had a huge parking lot, with what looked like truck parking. It was still under construction...and I looked at the many light poles in the truck parking area and thought....'they won't last long'.
:)

The 'Texas smokehouse' ones up on I-20 are ok. The BBQ is good. :)

Most of the Loves don't have an actual restaurant, subway and other fast food gets old. The company I currently work for makes us fuel up at Loves. :(
There is a Thai street food vendor across from the Loves in Ontario, Oregon, though. :)

Man, I'm scared, I'm stuck at this Loves for the night. Got a bad feeling....stay tuned.
:(

Here's a 'Chinese' bus trying to bypass the line of trucks entering the truck stop, with a turban wearing trucker behind him. :)
There's only enough room for one lane in, and out. The trucks leaving have to make a hard right turn when they get beyond where I'm parked. Total effing chaos.

The 'Chinese' buses on the east coast run as far north as New England, South, at least to Atlanta, and probably out to TX. They also do runs to casinos in the northeast.
The 'chinese' buses have a very bad safety record, just like in China!

The next time I go on my multi state road trips, I should bust out my chuck box and start cooking while at rest or fuel stops. Could earn some income by selling plates of food to truckers before getting kicked out :D I normally just make a samwhich while on the road and do the cooking when I'm out in the boonies.

This is a typical dish on my camping trips, hot link fajitas.

I always feel bad for the OTR truckers, seems lonely and it doesn't look like they mingle much with each other much. Just keep to themselves.

That really looks good :)

Well with a name like SHARTlesville...

Flank, I've got the same type of stove, but don't carry it in the truck recently.
If you buy the fuel canisters on amazon in lots of 6-12, they're around $2 each, as opposed to $3 at walmart, $6 at the truck stops. When I was using the stove daily, probably only used 2 cans a month.
Sometimes you can find a small saucepan with a locking, draining lid. Amazon sells one that doesn't lock, but still is easy to use to strain pasta, veggies, other stuff you boiled or steamed. :)

When camping or on my boat (when I had one) I used a small version of the Asian stacking steamers. Maybe a 3-4 quart pot on the bottom, two stacking steamer sections, and a lid that fit on top. The one I bought years ago was cheap stainless, was under $15.

Cook some pasta or rice in the bottom section while you steam some veggies on top. :)

The truck model I'm driving now doesn't have a safe flat place to put the stove on and use it, other than the floor. (No countertop, pull out desk, table, etc.)
I rarely did extensive cooking, but was nice to be able to make coffee with a melitta drip cone holder, heat up soup, etc. When I had space and more down time on the road, also carried a small gas BBQ grill. :)
It's so hard to hit a supermarket when on the road (in a truck) I don't stock the fridge up with much perishable food. Except for some walmarts, not many supermarkets tolerate trucks in the parking lots. (Don't like grocery shopping at walmart unless there is no other options)

It does look like the people who have explosions with the butane stove were using pots and pans that were too large and went over the canister portion. I still have about 20 cans left, I bought them from a restaurant supply store. Might switch over to propane once they're gone. But I like the convenience and size of the butane.

I only like to hit up Walmarts when I travel. We don't have Super Walmarts in the SF Bay Area region. Only ghetto people shop at the Walmarts here. Outside of California in the PNW and SW, the Walmarts are generally nice and normal people shop there.

My friend got one of those gas grills for the little bottle, the damn thing allmost ran dry before we was done grilling a little food.

Its now trashed and we are back to coal grill for out grilling out and about.

The setup is probably too sophisticated for vikings o_O I think all Asian people have the stove in their house for this one hot pot dish. Its like fondue without the cheese. I just had some at a restaurant last week, pretty tasty but spicy.

well to keep things warm it might be allright, i think here little alcohol burners is used instead of gas.

But my friends new toy was a grill same size and all to the little coal grille we have used for decades, but the new gas grill sucked the gas canister allmost dry and this was pretty basic quick grilling a little pork and some bread.
Allso at the same grillsession i put the temp gun on the new grill ( we was out testing a RC boat so we had temp gun to mesure brushless motors and speed controllers ) and there was massive differences in temperatures on the grill ( granted it was a really cheap grill )

At home in the garden we have been on gas for a long time now, but thats a 11 Kg gas bottle and it have plenty of gas for several grill sessions.

I think the coal grill is more ( hygge as we say ) http://www.visitdenmark.com/danish-meaning-hygge
Gas is allright at home in the garden where we usioally grill for 4 - 6 ppl, but out and about where its just me and my friend i prefer the coal grill, even if it take longer to get going.

The minus for the coal grill is we use it out in nature and as such it is a firehazard, but we are not the kind that leave burning coals, we have plenty of fresh water at hand ( drinking water for dog ) or we are often near the sea and can use saltwater to put out the coals and /or the fire we allso have at times before we go home.

Every year ppl get burns here cuz some ppl grilled or had a fire on the beach and then they just leave it, or maybe trow a little sand on it before leaving.
Resulting in some kid stepping in it with bare feet 4-5 houres later

PS. we grill all year, we have done it in -15 degree C ( minus windchill factor ) on fishing trips, with a strong western wind howling :)

using too large a pan on top is the root cause of the issue, it radiates too much heat back toward the canister

This one is my new favorite stove. It can burn small branches but I'm starting to put wood pellets inside. I'm experimenting more with it at home before taking it camping again. I got a giant bag of wood pellets, 40 pounds/18kg cost about $7. The bag will probably last me over a year. Cooked some hamburgers in a skillet pan over the stove in the back yard, the heat output was perfect. I did crack two large floor tiles that I was using as a base. The heat output on the bottom was too great

My neighbors might hate me for the burning smell though, every other day I'm out in the yard trying to cook in it :D About to buy another one so I can get two pans going.

I used a large pan on it once, luckily it didn't explode on me. Now I know better.
