Vantrue S1 Pro Max coming soon (Pre-orders now live!, shipping after July 1st 2025)

There will likely be 2 versions included.
You can easily change them. Screws should be on the back.
At least that's what I have seen with similar designs.

u are clever

The package contents show a rear camera and a separate 20ft USB-C to USB-C rear camera cable.

Does that mean the IP67-rated rear camera has a standard USB-C port that you push the cable into? That doesn't seem like a very robust connection for an exterior camera.

Maybe that wire at the back of the camera is a captive pigtail with a female USB-C socket that you can locate in a less hostile environment?

The lack of details is frustrating for a potential customer wanting to take advantage of the early-bird deal. At the moment I don't have clarity on how the rear camera mount or cabling works.

I just took a picture from my S1 Pro Max.
That should help.

I don't know if both mounts are included. But there are two versions, I know it because I have them both here.
But since both mounts are included for example for the waterproof-rear-camera of N4S/N4 Pro S I would expect it to be the same for the S1 Pro Max.
Everything else would make no sence.

At first when i saw the S1 model i had a flashback, as it have at least some physical resemblance with the Zenfox T3 i tested, and which was the least successful system i have run in modern time.
But the Vantrue flavor seem to be a whole other ballgame ( i think judging by feedback of others, no personal experience with the S series )

Ok even Vantrue offers dual IMX678, I think I might need to cancel my A329S pre-order man… competition gotten so intense!

u get s1pro max already?

Yes. But it's not an unit from the pre-sale.

Since we also have an online-shop it's not uncommon to have samples/pre-production-units of future developments from different brands before the official sale.
I think this may be the same for others.
But I can't share more details about stuff like that before the official releases/pre-sale/sales-start because it's always unfair against the manufacturers.

I will do a 4K/4K-Comparison of different brands with serial production units in september or oktober.

If I install a rear camera with an IP67 waterproof rating on the front outside, will it be durable?

I’ll have an S1 Pro Max arriving in a few days. I’ve not used a camera with additional driver support functions before, so I'm curious to see how well they work. Vantrue has been releasing new cameras at a quick pace lately!

Nice, you'll have to compare it to in-car native systems, honestly I find ADAS on dashcams to not be very good. Mainly because they don't have all the additional sensors that cars natively do.

This is likely, mainly due to the differences in available computing power. My car has many of these safety features, so a comparison should be easy. I was thinking about the people who don’t have such systems built into their cars, this could be an easy and effective way to add a safety factor.

At this point, I’m thinking the S1 Pro Max will be similar to a dual E1 Pro install with additional safety features. I’m very curious to see how it works.

I have the same sensors too as advertised on the S1 Pro Max, but having used ADAS on e.g. 70mai it's nowhere near what it is on vehicles.

I wouldn't even rely on it even if I had an older vehicle with none of the ADAS features. I don't think the Vantrue will fare much better to be honest. It's a nice idea in principle, but execution leaves a lot lacking.

Same - have an S1 Pro Max on the way soon. Interesting to find how annoying the ADAS features might be when you compare dash cam against actual car ADAS systems.

Haha when they work that is. Dashcam ADAS don't seem to work a lot of the time

Myself, I am not sold on the ADAS from dash cams, but, I am not real happy with them from the car manufacturers either. 🙂 In my mind, I have this belief that a dash cam should do just what it is meant to do. Add features like ADAS and what ever else just gets the dash cam farther away from its true intent and causes the manufacturer to invest heavily in those features, possibly distracting from the main intent of a dash cam.

But, to each, their own.
