VIOFO А119 MINI FIRMWARE

The Viofo app for Android and IOS has been updated.

A new version of the firmware is available for download on the Viofo website.
Are there any Beta testers that can elucidate the "bug fixes" and anything else in version V1.1_1017? The official Change Log is less than stellar in being helpful.

  • v1.1_20220902 test firmware
    • Added 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi support for locations where 5 GHz does not work with local phone devices
    • I'm traveling so I cannot verify that the 5.8 Ghz options is still present in the v1.1_20221017 firmware
  • v1.1_20220919 test firmware
    • When HDR is active, the firmware drops the fps value to 30fps.
    • Users that selected 2K 60fps resolution and used the HDR timer, could experience a loss of the selected 60fps resolution setting in some cases.
    • I tested this test firmware and it seems to restore the 60fps select when outside of the HDR timer selected time frame.
  • v1.1_20221010 test firmware
    • VIOFO worked on updating the colors / white balance of the video while HDR is active - applies to several test versions since last production release.
    • The A119 Mini HDR feature is intended to be used during nighttime recording, thus why VIOFO provided the HDR timer feature.
    • If HDR is active during daytime recording, the colors will look a bit yellowish (in my testing).

I installed this firmware and in the application shows version v1.1_20220919
I just checked the file I downloaded this morning and the one I just downloaded at they're identical. I searched the bin file for text strings with 2022 in them and nothing shows anything related to 20220919 in the v1.1_20221017 firmware file. I'm traveling so I can't actually load the new firmware file to 100 percent confirm, but the 'strings FWA119M.bin | grep 2022' command has worked well in displaying the internal version of the file before loading the file into the dash camera.

The output from the md5sum command on the v1.1_20221017 firmware shows: cd8d6a079b7bbbea87202e520ff56c5f FWA119M.bin

I just so happen to have a test firmware with a version of v1.1_20220919. The same 'strings' command shows 09/19 related dates.

The output from the md5sum command on the v1.1_20220919 firmware shows: d8c89f64b470ccac3efb5d1702cc5a72 FWA119M.bin

I'm not sure what else I can test, but it looks like the version info is correct in the v1.1_20221017 firmware file for the A119 Mini.

Just downloaded and also get the right one - v1.1 - 20221017

I once again downloaded and installed the firmware from here:
It shows me the version again: v1.1_20220919

Where did you download the firmware?
Can you share the firmware file?
I just downloaded the A119 Mini firmware again using the A119 Mini "Download" button/link on the VIOFO site. I always seem to get the expected v1.1_20221017 file.

The output from the md5sum command on the v1.1_20221017 firmware shows:

cd8d6a079b7bbbea87202e520ff56c5f FWA119M.bin

I tried downloading the file several times to make sure I received the same file each time and I did get the v1.1_20221017 file each time. I was trying to see if there was a VIOFO file server/DNS issue that would cause a different VIOFO server instance to be used that might have the older file. I purged my computer's DNS cache and tried the test again and again. It always downloaded the expected file.

I've uploaded the A119 Mini v1.1_20221017 firmware file to Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VqVyAeLyClhHjBKqOHbntpNukurq47Dt/view?usp=share_link

The v1.1_20220919 firmware file was never available via the public VIOFO website (as far as I know). The only reason I have a copy of that firmware file is because I was given it for HDR testing of the A119 Mini.

The only other thing to check on your end would be to make sure you're copying the FWA119M.bin file from the location that you stored the newly downloaded FWA119M.bin file on your computer to the microSD card. Not likely the cause of your issue, but worth making sure. :geek:

Yes. That's why I uploaded my copy of the v1.1_20221017 firmware file to a google drive for you test.
Thanks for the file, but I also have the correct file.
Another person flashed his Mini with the same file that I flashed my copy and it shows: v1.1_20221017
Something is wrong with my model.
Tomorrow I will install on it first version V1.0.20220519 and then version V1.1_20221017.
I think this will help.

I flashed my model with new firmware: V1.1_20221017
The problem was in the 2GB memory card which I flashed all my models.
I downloaded the same firmware file: V1.1_20221017 on two memory cards 2GB and 64GB.
I inserted a 2GB memory card into the DVR and turned it on. The DVR flashed and turned on. All settings in the menu were factory, but the firmware version in the menu was: V1.1_20220919.
Then I inserted a 64GB memory card into the DVR and turned it on. The DVR flashed and turned on. All settings in the menu were factory and the firmware version in the menu was: V1.1_20221017

I use old 16 and 32 GB cards to flash cameras, i never use a recording card for that.

I cant recall if i have this formware on or not, but as i have the mini card here on the table right now i will put the firmware on another card and flash tomorrow.
