I don't believe the box solution is going to be viable long-term.

I've banged on about it a few times and so have others here, like why can security cameras operate so well under heat and stress but not dashcams. It looks like we are FINALLY starting to see better chipsets from Novatek in devices like the A329. Sure, the architecture is like 15 years old but it's a start.

This should alleviate a lot of the heating concerns especially now that a lot of manufacturers have got access to Starvis 2 sensors now, and we'll be recording at 4K multi channel whether we like it or not lol. Therefore there won't be a need for boxes (increased manufacturing cost to the dashcam makers).
