VIOFO A329S series 2.1Ver firmware release

My reason for wanted to revert to the previous firmware (#12) was image quality. Having done so, I'm now certain images are clearer than with the update.

I think so too. We should go back to the previous version.

I'm back to the previous version. However, the notifications to update are bothering me. Please upgrade the app to enable the automatic update function to be turned on and off.

It certainly seems like a bug somewhere, whether it be the app or the camera. Though the screen menu didn't work for me.
The issue is the Android app, you can set the hybrid parking mode on the camera first, the bug on app will be optimized soon.

While you're at it, how about making the app work without needing to connect to the camera first?

Accessing settings while away from the car, at a convenient time, would allow checks/adjustments which then would transfer to the dashcam the next time the 2 connected. Not new, other manufacturers do it.

Yes, something like a cloud service which is badly missing.

I second DJ70 comment about using the app without having to connect to the camera first, being able to access settings to make adjustments, having those adjustments transfer to the dashcam when connected.

Seems fully logical, but I wonder if the connectivity is required because the actual settings only populate in the app when the camera is connected. I'm thinking of the fact that there are multiple camera models and even the same cam may be running different firmware versions across users, so it doesn't seem feasible for the app to inherently have every possible camera/firmware setting. But perhaps there's a way at least for the app to retain the last connected camera's settings.

I'm surprised so many people want to change their dashcam settings when away from their dashcam. I prefer to verify the result of any settings change immediately by reviewing the dashcam's live preview and subsequent video capture. I also want verification that any settings change is applied successfully (which is how it works now).

Is this really one of the most important enhancements you want for your Viofo dashcam? I care more about how it performs when I'm driving or when parked. While other manufacturers make cloud-connected dashcams, I still don't buy those because their video recording performance is not as good as Viofo's models (and I don't need to remotely live stream my dashcam). That's what's great about having many dashcam models available for purchase -- Consumers choose which feature(s) they prioritize and want to pay for. Not all features need to be in all dashcam models, and Viofo's product marketing folks make resourcing decisions based upon overall consumer feedback.

I'm surprise some people can't see the benefits of remote access. It's more than just settings.

Q: why have the dashcam recording in parking mode? A: Clearly to know if anything happens to your car while you're away from it.
Though by the time you see those recordings the event is over and done.

With remote access you'd get immediate notification, which has obvious benefits. It's even possible you could see something about to happen and prevent it!

Having used this feature with BlackVue I know, while not perfect, it's better to have than not.

"Cloud" feature and good images are not mutually exclusive.
People will pay for quality.

If the model does not have a cloud service, it is possible to use a third-party service.

You have posts in multiple threads asking for VIOFO cloud, but I havenโ€™t seen you asking BlackVue to improve their image quality.
Are you trying to degrade VIOFO image quality so itโ€™s equal with BlackVue ๐Ÿคฃ

Chuck, I think you misunderstood my post about using the app away from the dashcam. Iโ€™m against having a cloud feature. What Iโ€™m suggesting is that the app allow me to make adjustments off-line but once I connect to the cam in the vehicle it registers those tweaks in the app and makes those changes. It doesnโ€™t involve a cloud handshake at all in my scenario.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of issues with "delayed setting synchronization" like this. Delayed sync introduces many new "settings conflict" scenarios, requiring even more changes in the app UI to resolve. For example: What if the app was already out-of-sync with the actual camera settings (you can change them using the physical dashcam buttons, both before and after changing them in the app)? Some of the settings choices are also disallowed unless you have the hardwire kit or telephoto or interior camera actually connected, so those changes made in the app would not be permitted later when you connect. How does the software decide what to do and how does it alert the customer that some settings weren't actually applied?

Viofo has to understand how many of its customers really need to change settings in the app while disconnected from the dashcam, before building and supporting this software complexity. Versus applying those app resources to something else (like supporting new dashcam models and hardware features).

Sorry for not understanding, (Iโ€™m wee-todd-ed).
After your explanation, it doesnโ€™t sound possible due to existing variables.
But, donโ€™t let me stop you from requesting a feature,
You should SUBMIT A TICKET to see what VIOFO says.

What should users do if they have multiple Viofo models in their vehicle?
To which of them will the modified settings be applied?

You seem to be saying @viofo can only implement a cloud feature by degrading their images?
You obviously don't want it, but maybe you don't know as much as you think.
You can't please all the people all the time, but then it's not worth trying with some.

VIOFO + โ˜๏ธ = Fingers in too many pies (image quality & reliability will suffer).

How many Viofo users have multiple dashcams that are independent of each other?

The same thing they do now: select the camera they want to configure. The settings would apply only to that device. Supporting multiple cameras is a basic implementation detail, not an argument against the feature.

As far as I know:
A great many users have more than one Viofo model in their car.
This is especially noticeable among long-time Viofo users who previously used A119 models.

I have a VIOFO A329TW 2set and VANTRUE E360 installed at the front of the vehicle, along with a VIOFO A119M Pro installed at the rear.

I can get along well with just three remote controls, haha.
