I now have three dash cameras with 4K rear cameras in my Chevy Caprice. [BlackVue Elite 10, VIOFO A229 Ultra, 70mai T800]. I wanted to see how each handled direct sunlight exposure and with the vehicle rotated 180 degrees away from the sun.

Sometimes, only the interior camera can catch the impact event to your vehicle while parked. While parked at a local Costco, it appears the person parked next to my vehicle opened the rear driver side door of his Toyota Tundra pickup and struck my vehicle's front passenger side door handle. That driver did nothing to report his impact to my vehicle. Granted, my vehicle is a high mileage ex-police vehicle that has a less than perfect body / paint job. His pickup's rear door was "stuck" on my vehicle's door handle so much that he had to apply a lot of force to remove his truck's door from my vehicle's door handle. What a guy!

Before I left home, I had just installed a new firmware in the A329S 3CH. I forgot to adjust the settings for the interior camera to rotate it 180 degrees. That's why I had to rotate it for this screenshot.

How did you find out about the impact? Loomis Costco not to much parking there. Is there a new update for A329S 3 CH?

Just prior to this incident [at 11:00 AM], I had returned to my vehicle to drop off some items in my trunk [new eyeglasses]. That is what I expected the impact notifications to be about when I started the engine. I have seven dash cameras all squawking at me when I start the engine, so I dismissed the impact warning. When I arrived home, I copied the video footage from those dash cameras to my NAS drive. I reviewed the parking mode impact events from each dash camera. That's how I found this particular impact event. If I had paid closer attention to the Thinkware U3000 Pro's LTE module impact notification, I would have detected this while at the Folsom Costco. There's a scrape on the bottom of the door handle, but it's an old car with a lot of war wounds from being a former police patrol vehicle for the San Joaquin Sheriff's department. At least he didn't dent a door panel.

Many times i see people just opening those doors wide open and never paying attention if they will hit that car or something. But good to have a dash cam.
Folsom Costco i see , if your are in the valley West Roseville try the new Costco here on Baseline i am just few minutes away and they have it all Gas/Car Wash/Charging.

I should also say that a BlackVue Elite 9 also notified me of the impact event. I had my phone is my pocket while I was walking around the Folsom Costco building. I really don't know how I missed both push notifications for the impact event, but I did.

I live in Cameron Park. The Folsom Costco is the closest one for me until they build the new Costco planned for eastern El Dorado Hills. That's still 2-years out from being built/open.

I'm sorry that I didn't respond to this question. Yes, there is an early version of a v2.1 A329S/T/WW firmware available for product testers. I'm not sure when it will be released publicly.

This morning, I reconfigured the interior camera configuration [removed a currently unused interior camera] in that car so there was enough space to rotate the A329S interior camera to be oriented correctly without having to set a rotate image setting in the firmware settings.

No worries Thanks for reply about it Looks that they updated the app (iphone) and when you download videos they modify the steps which is kind annoying. Before was 2 steps now there are 3 steps and looks like the map not showing properly for few till comes back and also at the end some Chinese characters shows up too and then goes away. Kind liked the old way of downloading

The Toyota Tundra pickup door that hit my car's front passenger side door handle had two "new" scrapes on it. The long scrape is the where the other vehicle's door edge finished the forward scraping motion.

The driver of that pickup then pulled his door backward and then it got stuck in between the handle and lock section of my door handle. That's when he had to really pull hard a couple of times to dislodge his pickup's door from my car's door handle.

Again, what a guy!

I assume that whilst the interior camera was the one to record the actual impact, either your front or rear camera was able to identify the other vehicle arriving or leaving, if you had wanted to follow up on the indicent.

Yes, eventually there was rear camera footage of the vehicle backing out of its parking spot and leaving.

It comes down to which parking mode configuration you have selected. Low power impact detection [LPID] parking mode would likely have started recording 1-second after the initial door handle impact event. LPID would not have captured the vehicle backing out of its parking spot since there was no impact event caused by that action and it was several minutes after initial impact event. The other dash cameras in my car that were configured for their "energy saving" parking mode or impact based parking mode, did not capture footage of the pickup truck leaving.

Time-Lapse and Low Bitrate [the one I was using] parking modes would have footage of his vehicle leaving. Auto Event Detection would likely have been triggered by motion within the field of view of the rear camera as well.

After this guy removed his pickup truck's door from my car's door handle, he simply returned to the loading of groceries into his pickup truck. He then walked the shopping cart away from the area and returned several minutes later. As the guy is beginning to drive away, you can see the guy's face looking towards the rear of my car and it almost looks like a bit of a shock to him to see the large number of rear dash cameras in the rear window. 🙂

I was parked in the far corner of the Folsom Costco parking lot at the rear of the building. Being that it was the 3rd of July, Costco was super busy. I made sure I was parked inside of the lines for my parking spot.

I had hoped he would have left a note, but he did not seem interested in doing the right thing for the damage he had caused.
