Thank you to @viofo for sending a 3CH A329T to me for test and review, complete with a HK6 hardwire kit. In addition, I purchased 2No CPL filters for the rear and telephoto cameras, a spare mount and second HK6 for indoor testing, plus the BTR-200 bluetooth remote.
I have had the A329T installed in my car for 9 months, from last summer and throughout the winter. The A329T has been the most consistent, reliable, high-performing, and feature-rich dashcam that I have used. From high contrast summer sun to low winter sun, through snow, rain, cloud and fog, both day and night, whilst driving and when parked, it records video to a high standard on all 3 channels.
I have given feedback to @VIOFO-Support on a few minor things that I encountered during testing, primarily during beta testing of the V2.0 firmware. Overall my experience with the A329T has been extremely positive, and I'm confident it will remain my primary dashcam for a number of years to come.
For context, I have previously tested the A119, A129 Duo, A129 Pro, A139 and A139 Pro. I skipped the A229 series, partly due to family demands at the time, and because the models did not quite seem complete – there was always something missing for my intended use – 3CH with telephoto. Some readers will know that I have experimented with DIY telephoto cameras for many years, opening up dashcam bodies and replacing the manufacturer's lenses with third-party telephoto lenses, with varying degrees of success. Finally, with the 3CH A329T I had the opportunity to try Viofo’s telephoto camera in combination with the standard 4K front and 1440P rear cameras.
The A329x series is a mature system that builds on the successes and lessons learned from the previous Viofo dashcam series and offers a wide range of hardware and firmware options that users can customise to suit their needs. The recent firmware update to V2.0 adds some welcome features that strengthen the offering even further.
The key features that stand out to me and suit my driving patterns are:
I recently purchased a second telephoto camera to use in place of the standard rear camera, so now I have an A329TT with front & rear-facing telephoto alongside the main 4K front camera. I will create a separate thread to discuss the pros and cons of using a rear telephoto camera.
