Viofo took their winning recipe and improved it even more with the A329T.
After about two months of use in different scenarios, I can confidently say the A329T has proven itself to be one of the most refined and capable 3-channel dashcams I’ve tested to date. @viofo @VIOFO-Support
Specs:
The A329T absolutely dominates when it comes to reading license plates. The 4× optical zoom on the telephoto cam gives you high clarity even at a distance, without relying on digital tricks. In urban traffic, on highways, it consistently delivered readable plate footage where many others fail. Compared to the original A329, the telephoto lens is a serious upgrade. And that unit was already great.
Image & Audio Quality
Viofo kept the STARVIS 2 sensors and HDR for all three channels, and it shows. The footage looks very natural without aggressive sharpening or oversaturated colors. Other manufacturers have more cinematic-looking footage, but that's not the job of a dashcam.
Surprisingly, Viofo did an audio improvement. The microphone is much better than what I heard on the A329. Louder music with heavy bass isn't distorted anymore. It’s a small touch, but it adds to the overall refinement.
Any reflections on either camera can be eliminated by attaching a CPL filter. The CPL filter will slightly reduce the plate capture of the main camera. The telephoto seems unaffected by my testing.
Stability and Heat Handling
The A329T has been as solid as the A329. It never froze, never missed an event, and never failed to write files. I ran it in summer conditions with parking mode enabled, and even during a heat wave with up to 35 °C ambient temperatures, the A329T just kept going without issues. No random reboots, no missing recordings, no overheating warnings or shutdowns. Exactly how a dashcam should behave.
I tested the Viofo SD card also also Samsung Pro Plus micro SD cards. Both were happily accepted by the camera and did not cause any issues.
Missing Features
There’s still no cloud support. That might be a deal-breaker for some, especially when competitors offer LTE modules and app notifications.
It would be a welcome addition in the future.
The A329T does not have ADAS features. Do we need it? Not really. Viofo chose to focus on the image quality instead of ADAS.
Final Thoughts
Viofo built upon a solid foundation and delivered a truly improved version of the A329 with the telephoto lens. You get a very strong video quality from all three channels, zero gimmicks, reliable parking mode, great plate capture performance, and now even cleaner audio.
It’s not cheap, but considering what’s packed into this camera, including that telephoto lens, it holds up very well against anything in its class. If you don’t care about cloud access and just want something that does its core job really well, the A329T is probably the best pick right now for plate-focused users.
