On the Viofo Hardwiring kit, Red Wire = Battery (always on). Yellow = Accessory (activated when car is started). Black is ground. You can run the camera either through hooking to fusebox, or buying a battery pack, and hardwiring it to Accessory. And then you use the hardwiring kit to connect to the battery back instead of the vehicle's fusebox. Battery pack will give far longer record times, but will set you back around 300 euros. Wiring to fusebox is what I use. If you plan to leave your car outside long periods, a battery will give around 15-20 hours of record time. Car battery will depend upon the health of the battery.

Here's the Viofo A-129 Duo on my front windshield. The rear is adhered using the 3M adhesive. The front sits on an Arkon suction cup so I can pivot camera to face out the window if ever needed.
