So, I upgraded* (?) 2.7 to V2.9_20221215, found here. And today, I took a drive, loaded the data to Dashcam Viewer and there seem to be no GPS data. Setting is GPS: On and there's a green little satellite on the display.

I seem to remember GPS data can be found in a separate folder on the memory card, is that correct? Because I'm only seeing DCIM, Films and Photos.

* Formatted the memory card, copied FWA129P.bin to it, inserted it, set to default settings, did a reset and then went over all the settings.

No the norm are that the GPS data er embedded in the videos, it is very few cameras i have tested in the past 10 years that save GPS data to a folder of its own.

I have tested T130 - A139 - A119 mini and A229 duo, none of these viofo cameras have the GPS data in a folder of its own.

OK, thanks, guys. So the dashcam is probably not the cause since I get the GPS OK icon (and KM/H). I also installed a new version of Dashcam Viewer Plus (3.8.9) today. Could it be that this version isn't compatible with 2.9? Or problems with Google Maps (and MapQuest)?

It's been snowy and clouded all day. Maybe it interfered with the GPS? (But then the icon would be green, right?)

Maybe it's just a coincidence; I remember a ride where there were no GPS data either...

If the GPS module is in order and there was a signal, then the speed and coordinates will be displayed on the video in almost every player.

If you set your camera time, by just choosing time zone, that should indicate the GPS work fine.
I think your model like other viofo cameras allow you to choose what you want watermarked in the footage, i personally only have time/date and speed, i could also do the coordinates, but i dont like that.
Needless to say on a dedicated dashcam player that support the make/model of camera i can also see on a map where i am driving.

But ! i just use a regular video player software ( potplayer ) as i am well aware off where i am drivning as it is extremely rare i drive to a place i have not been to before.

I don't know of any tool that will extract the GPS data from a video and put it in a format that map quest or google maps can handle. The most likely one to do this would be GPSBabel https://www.gpsbabel.org/
My solution was to buy a separate GPS logger: https://gpswebshop.com/collections/...lumbus-p-10-pro-submeter-gps-gnss-data-logger
There are cheaper solutions than the one I bought, but I like the battery life of that one.
Other useful tools to look at GPS data are: GPSPrune https://activityworkshop.net/software/gpsprune/ and Viking https://sourceforge.net/projects/viking/

Edit: A quick google search came up with this:
Lots of linux commands, but doable.

Thanks, guys. The only thing I wanted to know was why Dashcam Viewer wasn't showing the GPS data. I don't want it stamped in to the recorded data and I don't need any other software to extract the GPS.

Today, I checked again after a drive and guess what? Dashcam Viewer is showing the GPS data, not only for today's drive, but also the one from past Saturday. I guess Dashcam Viewer is to blame, because the VIOFO was clearly recording GPS.

Anyway, all's well, ends well.
