It frees your hands:Foream X1 Smart Wearable Internet Video Camera

Hi @Gibson99,

Thanks for your ideas.

I think the supplier will update the configuration in next generation.

@Dashmellow

It is a little bit expensive.

I prefer to Foream X1's appearance.

edit: just noticed the relatively narrow angle FOV. sure, it's not the 60 degrees of a typical phone, but it's barely any wider - 87 degrees. i'd want at least 120.

The Mobius camera standard "A" lens also has an 87 degree horizontal FOV and the coverage it provides is quite pleasing and effective. Depends on your needs and preferences I guess but the Mobius provides a point of reference for the Foream X1 if you want an idea of what to expect.

i've not had the chance to play with a mobius, so i can't really use it as a point of reference.

that said, i found some sample video on geekbuying's site (along with some CREEPY photos). probably the main advantage of the narrower FOV is you don't get the fish-eye effect. things look more normal. and it doesn't look bad, either. but for the things i'd use it for, the wider fov is better, as it helps you get a better sense of what's going on in the periphery. i'm thinking motorsports. particularly, go-kart racing. 🙂

anyway, after looking at those videos, and seeing how it actually fits the head, it doesn't look like it would fit in a helmet. the parts that go above your ears are way too thick and would not fit between your head and the padding of the helmet. so i'm probably back to my original idea of a mobius with wide lens and lens extension cable. with the lens somehow mounted at the bottom of the eyeport (full face helmet), and the mobius main unit mounted inside the chin bar of the helmet with velcro.

Does it come with some kind of strap to keep it on the head, specially when it's an action camera?
Like these perhaps?

there's a russian guy reviewing the camera in the geekbuying link i posted above. looks like a sort of rubber strap that goes around your head, and the soft part on the inside of the camera is the "loop" or "soft" part of the velcro, and the rubber strap has the "hook" part of the velcro. kinda weird. but it also looks like there's loops on the end of each arm so you could maybe attach a strap similar to swim goggles to keep it secure.

Time to start a new forum.

another thing i saw on the geekbuying site... apparently one of their marketers must have watched Forrest Gump recently. they (foream, not GB) used the phrase "Peas and Carrots" on a lot of their images.

That was why I included the underlined link in my post to comparison examples.
somehow i completely missed it. probably because i was reading it on my phone or something.

Wait! The X1 doesn't have the direct-to-brain interface?
no, but it seems they named the product incorrectly. it shouldn't be X1...

And here I was thinking it sounded like the word forearm to the point of where I almost misspelled the brand name in one of my posts. 😀

I almost did the same.

I am excited in a proof of concept way because I like and believe that personal protection is important. (JooVuu X, Innovv series so and so forth on my hat.) I don't even mind the bright color as I wear a lot of bright clothing so I don't get bumped into while getting around, but I think this still has just a little further to go in terms of design. I also do not mind the more narrow POV since unless I am wearing this in the car things will be closer.
