Vantrue E360

I'm sure there are millions of Li-Ion batteries inside cameras, gopros, drones, power tools etc that are left inside cars and vans around the world. Is the battery chemistry in this camera mount really a big deal?

Zhiyun camera gimbals use a pair of 18650 Li-Ion batteries.

Here in Germany in wet rooms they are required by law.
Don't know about other countries.
In UK, normally the whole house, inside and outside, is protected, not just individual power sockets or rooms, most countries seem to do wet rooms with either the room or individual sockets protected.

Don't get me started on gimbals haha, off topic I know but I had one of the first generation Zhiyuns and the thing overheated and broke 🙁

I contemplated gimbal, but then thought about it, and the 60 seconds or so a year i would have use for something like that, just not worth it.
Mind you other things i am burning money like i had 5 arms - 2 wallets and there was 37 hours in a day.

chew on my selfie stick.
Not that long ago, a few weeks, insta360 had a short video on their YT channel which i commented on, and got deleted.
So in the video some guy made a slip and slide from inside his house and into the garden / woods behind the house.
Filming it he wedged a selfie pole with a 360 cam between his butt cheeks and when on his merry way.

And i couldent help myself and wrote " this is exactly what i think about the selfie pole people of the world )

Lol I got good use out of it to be honest, when I did video editing and colour grading - so it taught me a lot

I’m starting to like this little guy. lol

=)

Thank you for the info, but this does not answer my question.
Question:
Is the “Vantrue Player” REQUIRED to play the recorded footage on the Micro SD Card?
In the past I have tested dash cams from FineVu, and GNET, and I could not play the recorded footage on my Chromebook.
Those dash cams require the user to download proprietary software to play the recorded footage from the SD Card.
See here;
https://www.finevu.com/en/sub3/sub1.html
-
Downloading the proprietary software requires a Windows PC, or MAC computer.
All I can afford is $99 Chrombooks.
This means the only way I can see the recorded footage is on my tiny iPhone screen, and not my 43” 4K monitor.

I think I’m falling in love. lol
yes, I am afraid that you have to use the" Vantrue Player" to playback the recorded footage for E360

All proprietary software required to view recorded footage on the micro SD Card for an evidence collection device (dash cam) is unacceptable.
This is a deal breaker.
US Police Departments, Criminal Justice Courts, State / Federal Government Agencies will most likely be unwilling, or unable to download proprietary software to their computers to view recorded footage on the Micro SD Card.
When the original Micro SD Card is ordered by subpoena by a court of law, and gets into the hands of the lawyers, paralegals, police cadet, court assistant, etc, and the recorded footage does not play when inserted into a computer it will most likely not be accepted as evidence.
It needs to be simple “idiot proof” as playing a DVD, or VHS tape.

1.) you can use the usb c cable to charge the mount. it will come with the dash cam. power brick won't be included. it will take 4-6 hours to full charge.
3.) the 18650 cells is Li-ion.

1.) How do we charge the Handheld Mount?
a.) USB Type-C?
b.) Does it come with charging cable, and power brick?
c.) How long does it take to fully charge?
2.) What is the mAh capacity of each 18650 cell?
I just found the answer, (3300mAh each cell)
3.) Are the 18650 cells Li-ion, or LiFePO4, (Lithium Iron Phosphate).
The answer to this question could be a deal breaker.

@Jeff_Vantrue
I’m starting to have concerns about the handheld mount.
When I saw the specification of 3300mAh per 18650 cell I thought, that sounds like a Li-ion, and not a LiFePO4 cell.
The 18650 cells in EGEN dash cam battery packs are 1500mAh.
Of course this handheld mount is supposed to be used outside the car, but there’s got to be at least one customer that’s going to set it up in their car, and leave it unattended.
Any many others that will leave it charging unattended in a hot car.
Everyone knows what happens next.
If Vantrue replaced the (2) 18650 Li-ion cells 6600mah with (2) 18650 LiFePO4 cells 3000mah that would reduce run time from 4 hours to 1 hour 48 Minutes.
Of course this will increase cost but, that would be my recommendation so we don’t have any car fires.
Keep in mind this is only my worthless opinion.
I’m sure you’ll want to confirm with your engineers, and accountants, (those guys always agree with each other right).

Thank you for the reminder. All our batteries are equipped with independent protection circuits. The handheld mount is designed as an outdoor accessory and is not intended for use in high-temperature environments for extended periods. We recommend avoiding long-term storage in vehicles or other high-heat settings. We will add this information to the user manual.
Additionally, our battery cells are Panasonic 18650 models, which have been widely used in Tesla and other automotive brands.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I just checked with our product team again. Actually, you don't have to use the Vantrue player; the video can also be played on a regular media player. Since the video is stitched directly by the camera and saved in a standard format, it is compatible with ordinary players. However, the Vantrue player offers various playback modes and, as mentioned before, provides a better user experience

Interior camera looks pretty darn good, (2K resolution).
This is what I meant when I said; “No more 1080p IR Interior cameras, everything should be minimum 2K”).
I wonder how much the FOV is reduced at night with the 4 IR LED Emitters illuminated?

I'm glad it has in-camera stitching, it is time consuming to stitch it on PC.

That is nice but, what is with that crazy aspect ratio?
I like the "regular" 16:9 panoramic and you just drag the image to go 360 like this;
