- 2026 Minimum Spec: STARVIS 2 & HDR & Low Power Parking Mode
VIOFO BP100 Dash Cam Battery Pack, and EP100 Extension Pack are finally here.
All items sent by Viofo for test & review, thank you very much.
October 2022 @BlackboxMyCar sent the PowerCell 8, (EGEN of Korea) for test & review, (released in 2021); BBMC POWERCELL 8 TEST & REVIEW
I consider the PC8 my “gold standard” for comparison with all other dash cam battery packs.
December 2022 BlackVue sent the B-130X (EGEN Korea) for test & review; BLACKVUE B-130X TEST & REVIEW
I found the B-130X’s BMS to be slightly more advanced in regard to cold weather charge protection.
However, I much prefer the PC8’s HIGH / LOW switch to control “HIGH” 9 Amp Hardwire Charging, and “LOW” 6 Amp Cigarette Lighter Plug Charging.
September 2023 Thinkware sent the U3000 for test & review, (no HDR).
Night time image quality was incredibly unacceptable, I sent it right back.
Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to test & review the BAB-95 Battery Pack, (EGEN Korea).
I was looking forward to testing BAB-95 because it was the first EGEN Korean made battery pack with 3-Wire input charging, and voice notifications through connected dash cam to announce things like; “battery life percentage”.
September 2024 70mai sent the BL96NNX for test & review; 70mai BL96NNX TEST & REVIEW
The 70mai dash cam battery pack was a big deal for a few reasons;
1.) Previous “mainstream” dash cam battery packs were made by EGEN Korea.
The 70mai unit was the first “mainstream” Chinese made dash cam battery pack.
2.) At the time EGEN Korean made dash cam battery packs were around $400.
The 70mai unit was released around $150.
This made auxiliary battery parking mode accessible / affordable to customers who previously could not justify $400 price of admission.
3.) 8 Cell configuration, instead of 20 Cell, (EGEN Korea).
4.) 10 Second delay “soft-start”
5.) 3-Wire Input Charging configuration, (ACC / ignition trigger)
November 2025 enter VIOFO BP100 & EP100.
It seems like each new dash cam battery pack is standing on the shoulders of the previous “generation” with improvements.
I’ve been testing / using BP100 a few months, so far I like it.
However it does have a few "convenience features” I think are missing, that if added would turn BP100 into "heavenly perfection".
