Here is info on the new app https://www.viofo.com/blogs/viofo-c...new-viofo-app-smart-control-for-your-dash-cam
You can try to download from this link: https://we.tl/t-F1kClGso9WMy 9-inch car stereo runs Android 4.
Will Viofo Dashcam work with it?
Can you share the Viofo Dashcam APK file? I can't download it from the Play Store.
(If you extract the APK file from an already installed Viofo Dashcam, it won't work.)
I had problems the first time I used the new app, I tried to download videos. It kept freezing and all the videos on the phone turned pale while. I'll play with it some more since I think the app has been updated since that experience. Is anyone else having issues with the new VIOFO Dashcam app crashing? My phone notified me that it is crashing frequently and recommended that I put it in deep sleep. It was never like that with the old VIOFO app. 🤔
I tried installing it, but it seems to be an error, it doesn't work on Android 4(6)!You can try to download from this link
What are you trying to accomplish? Goefencing is set to the location you want the camera to turn off rather than enabling parking mode.Anyway to have geozone set to last known location when GPS is lost?
I park underground. So if i set my geozone right before i go underground, then that would be its last known position. What are you trying to accomplish? Goefencing is set to the location you want the camera to turn off rather than enabling parking mode.
Why would you want it set to the last known location when GPS is lost, which could randomly occur anywhere?
Ah yes, now I understand! I'm pretty sure this would require a Firmware change.I park underground. So if i set my geozone right before i go underground, then that would be its last known position.
in other cases if you dont have GPS, unless you were last spotted in a geozone area, it should still activate parking mode

Viofo would have to constantly store the current GPS location into memory and when you transition to parking mode, test the last location against your GPS zone which you would set just before diving underground.
They would probably not be happy using more processing power (to constantly update a memory location) but I can't see why it wouldn't work.
If you decided to park above ground in the immediate area you would have to disable geofencing, or manually enable parking mode.
I agree with @lufa6977 but it was an interesting suggestion.
If a user enters the geozone, parking mode turns off. Each geozone can have a setting (default to no), where its "use last known location?"It is an interesting topic and a challenge that many of us have pondered. 🙂
An app can display a Google Map of an area, and the user can place a single marker on that building and set a radius of, say, 100 meters. This will work, but once the car enters that 100-meter zone, the selected geofence action will happen. Does the dashcam now enter a parking mode or turn off? These could be undesirable if the user is forced to park outside the garage within the 100-meter radius.
The app could also allow the user to define 4 points around the building and specify a 30-meter perimeter around that grouping.
Let's say the user has entered the 100-meter zone; the dashcam is now in a parking mode, which may mean no recording, and an accident occurs. Will the accident be captured on video? Perhaps, depending on the available parking modes. If the user selects a no-parking-recording-camera-disable mode, no recording occurs. If they selected an impact-type recording or time-lapse recording, the accident, or a portion of it, could be captured.
There is a risk for whatever the user chooses. More importantly, the manufacturer should make it very clear to the user how this feature works and how it can work against them in the event of an accident or parking-related damage to the vehicle.
Funny you mentioned that, I am seeing the same behavior on my A229 Plus. I actually prefer it since it's one less step to connect to the app.Since applying the latest main camera firmware WiFi is switched on when the camera powers up, and is switched off after 10 minutes?

But in this case what undesirable impact is there? Slightly higher current draw (heating) for a few minutes but a better user experience when connecting to the app.I would consider that to be an undesirable action. But....that is how I roll. 🙂 I generally do not care for a manufacturer or software company to decide for me which features should be auto-enabled or user opt-out. Just sets against my basic beliefs that I should have control over my device. Mileage on those sorts of features, of course, will vary for others.
I view this the same as I would if I picked up my cellphone and the screen automatically opened the dialer or contacts...assuming I was going to make a call.
