V2.0 Firmware for Public Testing

I had to reset all my settings after this FW update. It's particularly annoying to have to reset my geofence locations because I have to remember to set them again the next time I go there.

Maybe I didn't do something to save my settings in advance?
we do updates in the field a lot. Viofo has not been saving any of the settings when using the app for the update. The annoying part is on the A329s and a few other it turns on the low bitrate and has it with no timer which will kill someones battery very quickly.

I had to reset all my settings after this FW update.
I did as well - I presume this update was more "significant" in nature. It is my understanding (perhaps I'm wrong) that the settings are automatically saved each time the camera powers down.

Just a quick question, will there be in the future an option to backup the settings before an update? Or even better, the update won’t reset all settings?
This customer frustration keeps coming up again, again, and, again.

Maybe we’ll get an update to all future user manuals;

it does seem that start up time has been reduced.
I also feel my A329TC is now booting up slightly faster
reduction in the camera's boot-up time.
I just measured bootup time with the new V2.1 firmware, and it's not looking good.
I wonder, wonder if we'll get "Fast Boot" in V2.2 😍
The original A329 2CH (2024) was 13.69 Seconds, if A329S 3CH (2025) can cut that in half I'd be over the moon.

Minor firmware updates settings will remain.
Major firmware updates require factory reset / default settings, (v1.0 to v1.1 etc).
Major firmware updates may contain new functions / features, (or even remove certain features).
Keeping “old” settings with new functions / features may cause the camera to not function as intended.

This is V2.0 -> V2.1, so is that still a major firmware update where settings are not preserved?

No one likes remembering and re-entering settings fresh. I probably care most about recording video resolution, bitrate, HDR on/off, parking timeout and other related settings, wi-fi, custom text and other stamps, timezone, and front image because I change these from the defaults. I guess that many customers want to preserve a large subset of these too.

While not all settings can be saved for a major firmware update (because they might not function as intended), could at least some "safe" ones be identified and saved - automatically? I don't mind if they default or remove some settings because they don't make sense or were removed in a major firmware update, but least save the settings that they can.

My iPhone is never completely reset after a major version software update (imagine if it were) so it seems technically possible to save basic things like recording video resolution and stamps, so my recordings stay close to the same.

Did Viofo build in any sensitivity reduction into the newest firmware or does it still lock every time the door is closed or car is start?

Sorry for the confusion.
When I said (v1.0 to v1.1 etc) I figured the “etc” would cover;
v1.0 to v1.1 to v1.2 and v2.0 to 2.1 to v2.2 and so on.
No one likes remembering and re-entering settings fresh.
That’s why VIOFO made “EXPORT SETTINGS” function;
When enabled, removing the SD card automatically generates a configuration file (viofo_config) in the root directory of the card.
This file can be opened with the configuration tool to view all current dash cam settings, including menu options and selected parameters.
(see attached screenshot)

Q: Why can’t VIOFO make a dash cam that works like my iPhone retaining all settings after firmware update?
A: I don’t know, you can SUBMIT A TICKET for an answer.

I have export enabled on my A239s. I know there is a FW updated available and I have been waiting for the OTA
FW update - seems so much easier to do with my fumble-fingers.
Is removing the SD card the only way to get the config file?

The last time I did this the SD card flew out of the slot. Took me almost an hour to find it in my truck!

1) I have a doctor for that, she is amazing. 😎
2) I have surrendered to the greater forces and updated the FW manually using the SD card. 😉

As long as my VIOFO A329S 3CH continues to perform within its advertised specifications, I'll keep using it.
However, no manufacturer should assume customer loyalty is guaranteed. The dash cam market is highly competitive, and that's good for all of us. Competition drives innovation, and I'm sure manufacturers follow discussions on forums like this one because this is where real users report real issues.

If another manufacturer releases a camera with better overall performance, fewer unresolved issues, and provides faster firmware updates together with more responsive customer support, I won't hesitate to switch.
Brand loyalty only goes so far. In the end, it's the product and the quality of support that matter. That's true not only for dash cams, but for virtually every piece of technology.

What malfunctions are you currently experiencing?
Everything is running perfect right? 🤣

Nothing at the moment. Let's revisit this discussion in a year or two. 😉

The settings will be reset when updating 2.0 to 2.1 because some new features are added. But the settings will be preserved in the future update.

Thank you. It's good to see that user feedback is being turned into actual improvements. Preserving settings across firmware updates has been requested for quite some time, so I'm glad it's finally on the roadmap.

Hello Everyone,

I just got the new update.

Has anyone dissected the best settings for hybrid on this one when utilizing SSD and a Micro SD card for hybrid parking. The change logs says "Add an 'SSD ->microSD Card' sub-option under Parking Recording Storage for use with Hybrid Mode; optimize the storage logic when a microSD card and an external SSD are used simultaneously" but I am not sure what this actually means.

Also, I see that they added an option for battery pack to move it into hybrid mode. Any one utilized this functions as of yet.

Also, Dewarp front camera option, is that an option that is necessary or is there some drawback to it.

Any other new options you have seen if you have any opinions I would be interested to hear about it.

Thank you

Hello, I would like to ask about the a329s feature.
-Does the viofo a329s turn off to protect itself when it overheats during low bitrate parking mode and goes into low power impact detection mode and turns back on when it cools down? Like the durashift feature on the vueroid s1 QHD. So the device doesn't completely shut down. Because what I observed is that when parking the a329s completely shuts down so there is no protection for the vehicle when the car overheats

@TonyM has been doing some good work looking at hybrid parking mode for the A329. I'm not sure if he has posted all of his notes yet...

I don't know why, but the latest v2.1 update made my Hybrid Parking (1fps -> impact) recording to be locked. There was no impact notifications though, so I'm unsure why the parking files were locked.

@VIOFO-Support as mentioned above by @isr25 there is something strange happening with low bitrate parking mode files being moved to the RO folder. In my case, some but not all are being moved. I reviewed the videos in the RO folder - the car was stationary and there were no impacts. I have impact sensitivity set to High. FW V2.1_260702.
