    Are Amazon Reviews Trustworthy?

Good for Amazon for tracking down phony reviews! Deceitful and deflective "reviews" are not reviews! A review isn't a review if: The reviewer is rewarded or paid by the company whose product is being review. The review is little more than a rehashing of the Press Release or other marketing...

can a rear cam actually show a person texting while driving?

I'm so tempted to mount a side-view dashcam now! Great videos!

can a rear cam actually show a person texting while driving?

Depending on the type of windows both your car and the other person's car has, a polarizing filter can offer either a great deal of improve clarity or or make the view worse. Some car windows from the 50's, 60's, and 70's interfere with polarizing filters that result in a wavy or grid-like...

Petition the car manufacturers to incorporate dash cam systems.

I use dashcams because I'm a defensive driver. I have never caused vehicular collisions, and I have experienced situations whereby the "Other Party" had different recollections of what had happened. Regardless, human memory recollection is not perfect and is frequently unreliable. I can see...

Petition the car manufacturers to incorporate dash cam systems.

My initial reaction is that I'm not in favor of more regulations by the government imposing such a degree of "nanny state" oversight. That aside, this issue would pose interesting challenges. For example, in the US (from wikipedia), "The Fifth Amendment (Amendment V) to the United States...

    Dashboard temperature.

For the temperature issues cited, I use a suction cup mount to at least allow some air circulation around the camera. At least the camera isn't "baking" on the dashboard or, worse, the windshield. The air temperature still gets very hot inside--even when the outside day temperature only 68F or...

GoPro Hero 4 as a dashcam

We all have different reasons how we use dashcams. If the camera has it, I turn off G-sensor (shock sensor) and motion detection. If I'm letting the camera run, some important event could be occurring that doesn't involve shock. Motion detection can be very dicey to set. Some motion...

Anyone know about CBEC365 on Amazon?

I've noticed a seller on Amazon that I had never heard of--CBEC365, who carries an assortment of action cams another other things. Have any of you heard of that seller? I don't see any feedback history for that seller.

    SJCAM SJ4000+

Overall, I like the performance of my SJ4000. If there's one issue, it's shutter speed of 30 fps at regular highway speeds--65 mph or a blink over 100 kph. The logical shutter speed of 1/30th of a second doesn't freeze much detail of things your are passing by. When you're stopped in traffic...

    SJCAM SJ4000+

I don't understand the significantly higher price tags for the SJ4000+ and SJ5000 models when compared to the SJ4000. The prices I have seen are about double the price. Is the 1080/60 mode for real--60 unique frames per second?

    Upside-Down Recording

I often have to use my SJ4000 upside-down. I'm aware of the menu setup that will automatically invert (rotate?) the displayed image on the LCD so that you can see the image right-side up, but the recorded image is still upside-down upon playback through VLN, QuickTime, or other apps. Am I...

    Most reliable dash cam?

Increasingly over the past few years, many new motor vehicles have come equipped with cameras from the vehicle factory. Some are backup cameras, and others point forward and may be inside the car cabin or perhaps in front somewhere. Has anyone looked at which company supplies these carcams...

Dashcam (yet to) saves the day... let the lying begin.

Sludgeguts, I would have expected your insurance company to have handled everything. I'm surprised that you hadn't called the police at the very beginning. Perhaps they would have arrived before the absent witnesses? I know what it's like to have absent witnesses appear--relatives or friends...

Complete review of the SJ4000, a great little dash cam

Has anyone encountered--what's it called?--electrical or RF interference? In one car, which has a lot of electrical stuff embedded everywhere--from the center rear view mirror, to overhead lights, to lights on the sun visor, and I suppose the A-pillar airbags, I noticed that when I change...

Complete review of the SJ4000, a great little dash cam

If you pressed the shutter button before you turned off the ignition, wouldn't the camera stop and save the file?

    lens quality..

It's nice to know that at least some focus calibration takes place. Throughout numerous threads for various cameras, people have reported bad focus. For fixed focus, that suggests sloppy (if any calibration) or some other assembly glitch.

    sj4000 as a dashcam...

I haven't tried the Mobius, but I have been trying out my new sj4000 this past week as a dashcam. I particularly like the sharpness--I can make out license plates and other details--and the fact that the form factor and some of the accessories are compatible with the GoPro. The rendering is...

    lens quality..

I'm curious how on earth they manufacture those tiny lens assemblies. At f/2.8 or faster, the lenses seem to have 5- or 6-element lenses. Some are glass. Some are plastic. Furthermore, a common reported problem among various dashcams and action cams is correct focus. (Most of these types of...

    sj4000 as a dashcam...

I haven't tried that feature or setting. Perhaps it's a firmware bug? Assuming that all the other settings are saved, then I would assume or hazard a guess that the camera's internal battery is OK.
