2CH Panorama X2. FullHD + FullHD ( 256Gb ). Sony Exmor CMOS. WDR. GPS. 24/7 Parking Mode Rec.

Part 2
Install turned out perfect.

I'll create a dedicated thread about this with the rest of the photos. (Showing how the panels popped off to run wires etc)

Here are a few shots of the rear. The adhesive base fit perfectly on the frame of the window and we didn't need to stick against the window tint. The lens fits perfectly between the defogger wires with zero vignetting.

Just easier to ask here,

The x2 has up to 24 hours of recording in parking mode.

If this is changed to "off", does that mean parking mode does not operate, or does it mean continuous? Sounds like a stupid question but just want to be sure.

If so, I request in future firmware it's increased to at least 48 hours if "continuous" will never be an option.

I have a similar question, if Parking G sensor is "off" and motion is "off" in Park mode, does the cameras record continuously?

I would think with Parking G sensor "on", camera records as G sensor is triggered, and with motion "on", camera records as motion is detected, not too sure regarding the "off" setting.

Also, if I may suggest, once it's clarified, the guide be updated to reflect this so others new to this won't have to ask the same questions again.

I will get expected behavior clarification and also see what is being done in the pending "advanced features" firmware update in the works soon. I'll clear up the manual as soon I confirm details. (stay tuned)

Parking Mode, Parking Time, OFF = Continuous (no time-out)

Parking Mode, Power Control, OFF= Continuous (no monitoring cut-off, will always record)

Parking Mode, Power Control, DRIVING MODE = Never Record while ignition is off (X2 will power off until engine is started)

A bit of a random one but what's the overwrite order for the three folders please?

At a guess (and ideally) if the card is full and the camera is trying to write to the EVENT or PARKING folder will it delete the oldest files from NORMAL, or will it delete the oldest files from the current folder first?

The normal folder is easy as when it's full it will just delete the oldest and carry on. The event folder I'm guessing will never loop - but parking I'm not so sure.

The only reason I ask is that there seems to be less data in PARKING than I expected to see. Is there a threshold set to limit the amount of space parking data can take up on the card?

Thanks again for all the help Jon. Never before have I had a vendor offer to hand deliver and help with an install.

I'll get some photos and videos posted this weekend. Matte black plastidip mod coming too.

A real man allways have plastidip in some form at hand, i have the spray and thick dip kind at hand. 😀

I was thinking about plastidip for mine and if the camera is using the case as a heatshield is it wise covering it in plastic?

Just thinking it may cause some heat problems down the line if so?

As for the X2 I've noticed it seems to have a habit of blowing the sky out to white all the time in the weather we're having lately. The DOD LS460W used to do it a bit but not as much as the X2. Maybe too much contrast / brightness or it's using a too long exposure?

A few quick clips here - no idea how that van just missed the lorry as it was close - it would have been so much easier to have just stayed where he was, overtaken and then pulled in afterwards.

Just noticed my GPS isn't working from todays clips - it's face up on these right?

So I received my X2 today, it is not installed yet but I did install the magnetic filter. And went i went to take the filter off, the magnet held so tightly that I pulled off the plastic surrounding the actual camera (followed by a OMG gah! expression on my face). A pinch move is required to take just the filter off for those who are using it haha.

Otherwise I am fairly impressed with the build quality of the unit overall. Definitely feels like a $400 camera system. If only it was warmer than 50f degrees so I can stand to be outside installing it.

I hope you do not open the product. Opened product is out of RMA.
No chance of me opening this one yet - it went straight out of the box into the car and it's been there since 🙂

The GPS module was ok after the cable was unplugged and plugged in again - hopefully the cable was snagged is all but I'll keep an eye on it. Which way should the GPS module go? Face up with sticky side down right?

I'm interested to hear how people get on with Samsung Evo cards as I've had to format one in the X2 twice now in a week.

@tchk Thanks for the update I will see if I can replicate the strong magnet vs lens housing you describe. As long as it popped back on you should be ok. The CPL is a 3rd party option discovery as you know.

It pops right in and out but only if you pull it straight out, otherwise the lense gets stuck in a catch in the housing. what should I use to better secure it (once I getting it hooked up and verify the focus is good)? I don't want to do anything that might void the warranty.
