In order to use the 70mai parking surveillance mode, you’ll need to install the 70mai hardwire kit. You can’t enable parking surveillance mode without this hardwire kit installed now.

Final thoughts
This 70mai A500 series is an upgraded 70mai Dashcam Pro. Now the newer 70mai Dashcam Pro Plus+ A500S has dual dashcam functionality with the RC06 rear cam.
70mai pro plus+ vs pro.png

The 70mai Dashcam Pro Plus+ A500S now uses the Novatek NT96580 processor instead of the Huawei HiSilicon Hi3556 V200 processor in the 70mai Dashcam Pro Plus A500. I am liking the change to Novatek by 70mai. But I do hope in the future there will be a 70mai dashcam which will be using super-capacitors instead of lithium batteries.

The ADAS of the 70mai Dashcam Pro Plus+ A500S, I can say that is about 80+% accurate like my Thinkware U1000’s ADAS. 70mai's parking mode will starts recording when there's a trigger of the G-sensor.

Is there any pre-buffering of parking mode vids? If not what's the delay time between sensing and recording start?

After viewing some of the vids it seems like the lens lets it down a little but given the price you can't have everything. I don't think it would do well with capturing US plates, especially at night with there being too much motion blur. Doesn't look as good as the A800 did, maybe they're not as familiar with the NT processor yet as they could be. Sad they were forced to change processors.

Good review as usual (y)

70mai doesn't have buffered parking mode. It's starts recording when the g-sensor triggers during parking mode.

Parking mode will start recording after 5 seconds of detected impact making it not so useful. Also, it will take some good effort to get it to trigger.

Thanks for the detailed review, interested in this for sure.

Can you tell me if you can switch to the rear camera on the screen? I'm hoping to use this as a rudimentary reversing camera for a car that I don't drive very often.

You can switch between front camera or rear camera on the screen by pressing the left button

Hi Jeremy,

How did you connect the dash cam to the 70mai App, I select Add device from the list select 70mai Dash Cam Pro Plus+, connect to the dash cam hotspot the app shows "Connected to 70mai_A500S_XXX" but when I press Connect button it takes me back to WiFi settings, I thought it could be my old phone info below so I tried my friends iPhone 7 iOS 14.4 same result, 70mai support is useless no answer to emails.

LG phone Android v7.1.2
70mai app v1.8.1
Pro Plus+ firmware 0.0.9Aww

I had similar problems with all my cam apps and my LG Phoenix3 Android 7.0 ;) I found that once I get the app connected on the connection screen, using the "back" button (little triangle on bottom left) takes me back to the app home screen then everything works from there.

Phil
