70mai T800 3CH 4K Front / 4K Rear / 1080p Cabin Dash Camera - Testing / Review - RCG

Hello @rcg530 and @Oliver_70mai, I thought that 70mai will now issue the black adhesive pads. I just received my T800 yesterday and I found that it is still has grey adhesive pads.
During my testing of the T800, 70mai confirmed they had completed validation testing of a black version of a double-sided adhesive tape. They sent me a sample of the double-sided black adhesive pieces. The initial production batches may have the gray tape. You might want to reach out to 70mai support to see if they can send you the black versions of the double-sided adhesive tape pieces for the T800 cameras.

70mai has released firmware version 1.2.136ww for the T800. This is an important update to get installed into your T800.

A couple of weeks ago, it was brought to my attention that the T800 could very infrequently create MP4 files with video stream content that was not playable [black screen video but audio would play]. The issue could occur in the front, rear, or cabin MP4 files. The MP4 files that I used during my review of the T800 did not have that problem.

I created a script that uses the ffprobe utility from the ffmpeg package to quickly scan the T800 MP4 files stored on my NAS drives. The ffprobe command was to simply display the video codec used in the file. This was enough of a check by the ffprobe utility to detect the MP4 files with the video stream issue. Of the several thousand T800 MP4 files on my NAS drives, the script found only small number of MP4 files that in fact did have this problem.

70mai provided some private firmware updates for me to test and gather device log info. Recently, the root cause of the issue was identified and 70mai produced a firmware for me to test with the "fix" in place. The latest test firmware [1.2.135zww] has produced MP4 files with correct/valid video streams. Thank you 70mai for working with me so quickly and diligently to resolve this issue.

I would recommend any T800 user to update their T800's firmware to 1.2.136ww to fix this issue.

i've updated to 1.2.136 like you suggested for the past few weeks and still noticing the same issue with random videos having no video stream

It appears that firmware v1.2.136ww does not fully resolve the issue for everyone. I have not been able to recreate the problem with v1.2.136ww, but you're the second person I've seen report this issue still occurs for them with v1.2.136ww. I've been testing a development firmware release of v1.2.138ww which has been stated to me as the "final public release" for the problem.

I haven't recreated the video corruption issue with v1.2.138ww after running one of my T800 units almost continuously for a week. About every 8-to-10 hours, I'll shut it down and check the files on the memory card for any video corruption. I have found a couple of other issues with v1.2.138ww that I've reported to 70mai, but due to their holiday break, I haven't heard back from them yet.

My best suggestion is to submit a "Feedback Ticket" using the 70mai app including the "Device Logs" from your T800. I'll follow up with any updates I get from 70mai when they return from their holiday break.

70mai has resumed normal business operations after their "National Day & Mid-Autumn Festival" holiday break. You should get a response to your feedback ticket soon.

While at the 70mai SEMA 2025 booth, I was informed the "official" firmware release that fixes the random video file corruption issue is v1.2.139. That version was to have been made a public firmware update within the last two days.

I'll send an email to my 70mai contact. My two T800 dash camera serial numbers are on the 70mai test/development whitelist of serial numbers so I have v1.2.139 because of that reason.

I'm trying my best to make sure the info I'm given about the 70mai T800 v1.2.139ww firmware release is as accurate as possible. I was just informed that what I was told about v1.2.139ww being available now, is incorrect [obviously]. My 70mai contact is now telling me that the release date for the T800 v1.2.139ww firmware will be announced next week.

@rcg530 Hey man total respect to you. I can tell you are a straight up guy.

My post re version was meant to help you and give you evidence while you are at SEMA to tell Oliver and others that at least one reviewer (me) hasn't seen the update eg proof.

Cheers.

I put together a "video samples" video with front/rear/interior video samples from the following dash cameras: VIOFO A329S 3CH, VUEROID S1-4K Infinite 3CH, 70mai 4K T800 3CH.

As Augustus has reported, 70mai has released firmware v1.3.145ww for the 4K T800 dash camera. I received an email from my contact at 70mai stating this version contains the official fix for the video corruption issue.

Version v1.3.145ww will be made available using a phased rollout release schedule over the next 7 days to the T800 units in North America.

A 2-minute 50 second video of nothing but plate captures using front and rear cameras from a VIOFO A329S 3CH dash camera, a VUEROID S1-4K Infinite 3CH dash camera, and a 70mai 4K T800 3CH dash camera.

I captured some frame grabs from three 4K rear cameras and four 2K rear cameras.

4K Rear Cameras - BlackVue Elite 10 No HDR, VIOFO A229 Ultra HDR, 70mai T800 HDR

2K Rear Cameras - BlackVue Elite 9 HDR, Thinkware U3000 Pro 2K Rear HDR, VUEROID S1-4K 2K Rear HDR, VIOFO A329S 2K Rear HDR
