A129 Duo No Longer Recording in Parking Mode

There is a 90 second delay from when the hardwire kit senses voltage below the cutoff and when it actually powers off the camera.
Hmm… how could it be sensing voltage below the cutoff when I just charged the battery up to full using a battery charger?

Not sure if it makes any difference but this is the original OEM battery that came with the car when my wife bought it new in 2014.

An 11 year old battery likely needs replacement.

What do you have the cutoff set to?

Maybe try leaving the charger on the battery, turn on accessory mode (don't start the car) to power on the camera. After about 20 seconds or so, turn off accessory mode and let camera enter parking mode. With the battery charger still charging the battery, it shouldn't reach the low voltage cutoff. If the camera stays on, then you know it's the battery.

Yeah probably time. The clublexus forums mentioned that the battery for these cars will last up to 10 years with normal use. I saw someone confirm theirs was at 11 years and 257k miles before the car got flooded.

It was at 12V but I switched it to 12.2V during my earlier troubleshooting.

Okay so plugged in the battery charger again and it’s showing one red bar, which is weird. It was fully charged and green before I started troubleshooting this morning. Took about 45 minutes to recharge back up to full green. Guess it’s discharging really fast.

I did what you said and noticed that the battery charger dropped back down to one red bar again and the camera shut off after 90 seconds. Must be the battery then! Kinda stumped how the car is still able to start up every time though… must have something to do with the car being a hybrid… much appreciated to you and @lufa6977 !!

Most auto parts store will load test the battery for free. This way you’ll know for sure how good the battery is.

Glad you got it sorted out. CaptureYourAction gave you the best help, I learned a bit here myself. 🙂 It was looking more like a power issue but I don't know that I would have come up with the
final testing solution he gave you. That is one for my memory banks.

After troubleshooting all day, I had to find out. Went to the nearest auto zone and they confirmed it was a bad battery lol.

Yeah as annoying as this has been, it was a good learning experience. At least now I can also update my SD card and have the latest version. Thanks again!
