A229 Pro Test & Review PP

I love side view POV.
Can’t wait until we get a Viofo 5-CH Box Version.
Front + Rear + Left + Right + IR Interior
I’d be happy with (IMX675) x 5

Audio sounds great especially given it is a "dashcam"
Correct!
Might the 2ch unit be closer to a speaker? Just seems clearer/louder.
Sitting in the driver seat left to right;
1.) A229 Pro (left unit)
2.) A329
3.) A119 Mini 2
4.) A229 Pro (right unit)

I hear you are expanding your audience lol.
I knew I was going to be sending the original raw files back to Viofo to hopefully use for their social media.
They used to ask me for beautiful / interesting sample footage, but where I live there is nothing.
So this time I want the PR Team to have something nice to listen to while they look for a 5-10 second clip worthy of posting. lol

The side view has some rare use cases where it's really worth it. Like capturing the drivers face to identify them or to see what is happening around the car.
I also had a spare camera used on the rear right side for one year. There wasn't much interesting except for a few rare videos.

Whenever the front, or rear camera fail to get a plate the left, and right get plates 99% of the time.

I forgot I had an RTC300 Telephoto (A229 Plus) on the rear window filming simultaneously with left & right side cameras.

@viofo announced.
They are working on a new FHD rear camera compatible with the cabin camera input for the a229 pro / plus.
As I have stated from time to time, I stated that if the rear camera input is used for telephoto, the need for the rear camera should be used from the cabin camera input, and this would be the right combination.
In conclusion, it is nice to hear that we can provide a combination of front and second telephoto front and rear cameras. we'll wait and see.

Shoutout to @rcg530 for confirming the new IR Interior Fisheye Camera from the A229 Ultra (RNF210) is compatible with A229 Pro & A229 Plus.
This is good news for existing A229 Pro & A229 Plus users that would like to upgrade the original “wide angle” IR Interior Camera to the new Fisheye model.

RF200: Original - STARVIS 1 (IMX307) 1080p
RNF210: Fisheye - STARVIS 2 (IMX662) 1080p

Q: When upgrading from RF200 to RNF210 is a new cable required?
A: No, it uses the same USB Type-C to 3.5mm TRRS 4-Pole cable.

Q: When upgrading from RF200 to RNF210 is new firmware required?
A: No, upgrading is 100% Plug & Play.

Q: What is the measured Horizontal FOV difference between RF200 to RNF210?
A:
RF200: 122° Horizontal FOV
RNF210: 194° Horizontal FOV

RF200: 84° Horizontal FOV (IR LED’s on in darkness)
RNF210: 108° Horizontal FOV (IR LED’s on in darkness)

Q: What does the FOV difference look like?
A:

1.) RF200 .webp

2.) RNF210 .webp

3.) RF200 .webp

4.) RNF210 .webp

Q: What does the FOV difference look like in action?
A: Here’s four test footage clips.
The first two are daytime from RF200, and RCC360 IR Interior Fisheye from the A329S.
The last two are night time.
After I get the A229 Ultra installed, I’ll post updated videos.

Q: What is MSRP of the RNF210, and where can I order it?
A: $90

The perspective at night is still a bit small.
Yes.
Needs more IR illumination, but that would also increase power consumption.
I guess this is the limit.

@Chuck McCoy in your post above, it says the MSRP of the RNF210 is $90.
It is now listed here at $144 and sold out.
Did they increase the price due to high demand? I hope when production catches up with demand, price will drop

Otherwise thank you for the FOV comparaison photo with scale & videos. This is such a cool cabin camera.

$89.99 is 89.99 USD, $144 is 144 AUD. The currency is different.
You can change flag here to switch the USD to AUD for confirmation:

Sorry for the confusion.
I consider myself a true 'Murican.
That means I'm ignorant of everything that happens outside of our borders, and I think everyone uses "Freedom Bucks".
That was a joke. lol
I don't type USD after $ because of my location details.

Apologies, I saw I was on the US website and assumed it was USD, didn't notice it had automatically geotagged my location and adjusted the currency. Does that mean we can order from the US website and get products delivered to AUS now?
Because you also have a dedicated Australian website https://www.viofo.com.au/

Sorry for reviving this old post. Do you think the temperature difference between the Pro and Plus will be smaller if running 2 channel only? It doesn’t exceed 90F where I’m located, but a bit hesitant about the Pro’s reliability in heat.

Welcome to the club.
I would skip the A229 Pro & A229 Plus, and go straight for the A329S.

While some people may have experienced problems, my A229 Pro has never shut down due to high temperatures before today. Even though the ambient temperature has risen much higher than yours during use.

I have never had an overheating problem with my 2 channel A229 Pro and I use parking mode. I have parked it a few times on 90 degree days in the sun for a couple hours of parking time.

I do wonder if the A229 Pro Tele has had improvements made to it in terms of ventilation, since the overheating issue had a fair few reports. My A229 Pro completely failed, but A329 and A329S were fine and did much better in the heat probably due to the increased ventilation
