I noticed that the BK4 in my wife's SUV has a red padlock on the screen. Anyone know what this means?

Sounds like a locked file due to the G-sensor being triggered. Usually, the symbol will go away after a few seconds and the file will end up in the RO folder (read only) where it can't get erased.

Sometimes this can happen if you hit a bad bump or slam the door shut when the camera is operating.

It sounds like your wife has been bouncing around in her SUV :D
It's probably a recording that has been saved and locked due to a hard bump in the road...unless she drove her car into something!
Check the card memory to see if you can find a locked file and perhaps check the G sensor setting in the camera. Set to medium.
