So I've been searching for information on the CM100 module. My main question was IF another device can be connected to it and used as a hotspot.

What I wanted was a hotspot device to be hardwired and stay active when the car is off. Obviously the CM100 will do this but I also want to connect my radar detector (an Escort Redline 360c) to it for Escort live. The Escort power on / off with the vehicle ignition and I don't need that to remain connected to the hotspot when the car is off.

After I found my answer from a YouTube video comment, I ordered it.. Once it arrives I'll plop a T-Mobile pre-paid data only card in ($20 a month for 5GB data) and test everything out.. My hope is that the Escort will auto connect to the CM100 after it powers on when vehicle is started and that it disconnects after the car powers off.

Right now I've been using a Harman Spark through AT&T and for BlackVue cloud service it's basically a paperweight. Once the car turns off, the Spark does as well.... For the detector and for connecting other devices, the Spark is great but as said, it's useless for the cloud services...

I'll update this thread with my results once I get everything set up and running. The CM100 might be the answer I've been looking for. If you need more than one device connected then this probably won't work but I only need the one so fingers crossed this solves my issue..

I'm glad you received a similar response from BlackboxMyCar to your question as you did from me in the comments of my review video for the CM100LTE device. My testing shows that I can connect one device to the camera's Wi-Fi network and the CM100LTE acts as a gateway router to the internet in my testing. The only thing that did not seem to work over that connection was the BlackVue app itself running on the Wi-Fi only iPad. When I tried to access the "Notifications" page of the app that retrieves the notifications from the BlackVue Cloud service it did not work for me.

I hope that since the radar detector powers off when the car is turned off that it will and should disconnect from the BlackVue hotspot thus allowing me to get cloud notifications ect..

Guess I'll find out once it arrives and I get it all setup...

With your (very cool) RD/Camera setup, where the heck are you gonna put that module?
I think I am going to tuck it in the headliner.. Should not really effect reception much (or at least I hope not).. If not then I'll need to find a hiding spot for it as I am NOT sticking it to the windshield...

My 2nd option might be to run the cable along the headliner then down the trim to the glovebox area or fuse box area and stick it somewhere there out of sight..

I'd like to be able to access it in case the SIM card goes bad or whatever.. I also wonder if tucking it in the headliner will cause heat issues.. If I can't hide it, then I won't be using it and my search will continue...

Got it installed and operational. I used a T-Mobile pre-paid SIM card for data only and went with the 5GB plan for $20 a month. I may downsize that after I see how much data the camera and radar use. I did not enter any APN info for the SIM and just left everything blank.. Connected to T-Mobile almost instantly and has held data connection all day..

I ended up putting in the glovebox area. I tested it on the windshield and where I have it in the glovebox area and didn't see any degradation in reception strength..

My radar detector connected to it just fine and it auto connects each time it turns on.. When the detector turns off (when car is turned off) it disconnects from the WiFI hotspot allowing me to connect to the camera using it's WiFi for the BlackVue app if I want...

You might have to zoom in on the 2nd photo to see the module. Taking a photo of it was difficult.. I left enough cable to where if I ever need to access the module I can just take it down (secured with the 3M double sticky tape) and I'll have access to the SIM card slot..

I'm glad you got this working!

I'm a bit curious about not needing to enter the APN info for the T-Mobile SIM card. When I used the BlackVue app to configure the SIM card and selected T-Mobile in the United States, it filled in an APN value of fast.t-mobile.com.

I read or watched a video somewhere (can't remember which or where) and it was advised to leave them blank.. I did and everything connected fine and has held it's connection with no issues..
