Blackvue DR600GW-HD (increased bitrate)

I've updated my cam to Alexsoll's custom firmware today and I must say, it's a HUGE IMPROVEMENT from Blackvue's.....
This guy deserves an award or something lol. I'll be donating again Alex. Keep up the good work!

Thank you

Hi guys,

Does anyone know how I can check the video properties on a Mac? I will be testing out the custom firmware tonight, can't wait!

Thanks

Thanks alexsoll! Greatly appreciate all the great work you're putting into improving the firmware :)

Hi guys,
I'm running into some trouble. Here's what I did.

> formated SD card on computer
> loaded custom firmware on SD card
> SD card in camera, everything updated OK. Blackvue automatically restarted.
> Took a sample vid. Checked properties. All good 13mbps as expected.
> Took SD out and changed Region, Video resolution to Full HD1080p and 'High' image setting, and several other settings with the G-senor, wifi, etc on computer.
> inserted SD card back into Blackvue, recorded sample clip.
> clip is now back to 9mbps.

I should add that I downloaded the English version of the custom firmware, so I didn't need to change any language settings.

I've tried the above 3 or 4 times, but each time I would get 13mbps on the initial test file, then change region, vid resolution, etc on computer, and the bit rate would revert to 9mbps :-(

Anyone experienced something similar? I'm on the verge of giving up...

Hi alexsoll,

After I load the firmware onto the Blackvue, take SD card out and insert into computer, the video resolution has "HD (1280x720)@30fps" selected by default. I changed this to "FullHD (1920x1080)@30fps".

Should I be leaving the video resolution alone? Can I adjust the image setting to 'High'?

Many thanks! :)

It is impossible to change anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,

For anyone experiencing the same problem, I have found the root cause and the solution, after much experimentation.

You cannot use a Mac computer to change the settings via the Viewer Application for Mac. You must change the settings using the Viewer application for Windows.

When I used the Windows viewer, I can immediately tell that the software was different to the normal Blackvue one and there was no default selection for the Video Resolutions settings, as alexsoll had mentioned above.

Hope this helps anyone else experiencing the same issues :)

Cheers

Darn I don't have a PC or a laptop. Wish I could do this great upgrade :(

Have donated and installed this upgrade. What a difference!! Thanks to Alexsoll and his team for doing this and thanks to them for investing their time and resources to make the Blackvue better. Well done. :)

Can it be done on a smartphone or tablet?

Custom firmware, evening, cloudy.

Looks awesome Alex! Great work :)

When will this new version of the customer firmware be available?

You can use a Windows PC or a Mac to load the new custom firmware onto the SD card. However, if you decide to change the settings, you must use a Windows PC and hence the Windows Application Viewer in the Blackvue folder of the SD card.

Darn that's a shame will have to wait for now then.
