BlackVue Elite 10 Dual 4K - Test/Review - RCG

No GPS changes/improvements with latest firmware.

There are custom apps and scripts that are able to download faster and multiple files.

BlackVue Legacy app is a third party app that's not been updated in years but still works if you're able to find it and download it.

There are custom scrips to run on a local NAS if you connect your dashcam to a home/work WiFi hotspot on the same network - so it auto downloads all files when it's connected.

Thanks for the reply once again. I am afraid that the wifi connection would be an issue, unless I set up an lte hub and from there set up a vpn to my home network. I will also have to monitor the overall usage not to get over the 20GB consumption that I have. Will have to look for a new house it seems.. more straightforward 🤣😂

When I say WiFi hotspot - I mean the camera can connect to any local WiFi - rather than using it's own LTE connection.

You can set up 3 different local WiFi connections.
For example - your general home WiFi is call 'Home_Wifi', the camera can connect to that once it's in range if you park on your driveway/garage.
The camera is then accessible on your home local network (as long as it's not in low power parking mode as that turns it off)

Where the car is parked will not work with the wifi at home. I will have to improvise. Good to know these options though!!

Here are a few Elite 10 4K rear frame grabs along with corresponding VIOFO A229 Ultra 4K rear frame grabs. This is to see what no HDR [Elite 10] looks like compared to HDR [A229 Ultra].

As expected, HDR allows the details on the very bright spots to come out. I wonder how this will translate to night performance out the rear as the front benefits greatly. Thanks for sharing.

i am very confuse why blackvue make a 4k carema without hdr
maybe blackvue want sell more elite9

Thanks to rcg530 for collecting and sharing the video comparison tests. From the footage, while the VIOFO A229 Ultra shows some advantages in overexposed areas due to its HDR performance, the ELITE10 appears to offer better overall image clarity, particularly in dark-area details and the readability of certain billboards.

BlackVue could add HDR in future by firmware. They did this with the DR970X Plus.

actually i compare elite 10 vueroid s1 and viofo 329t
s1 better than 329t better than elite 10

Let me clarify that statement a bit. I'm talking about the dash camera entering into and exiting from parking mode based on whether the vehicle it's installed in is moving. The older BlackVue models have two ways of determining when to enter into and exit from parking mode. The older models monitored the vehicle's motion and when the vehicle was stationary for 5-minutes, it would enter parking mode. When the vehicle would start moving and the speed of the vehicle went above 5 mph/8 kph it would exit parking mode. The second method is when the dash camera is powered using the 3-wire hardwiring cable and when the accessory power is turned off/on that will cause the dash camera to enter into and exit from parking mode..

The Elite series [8/9/10] dash cameras only have one method of entering into and exiting parking mode and that's when it's powered by the 3-wire hardwire cable.

Motion based parking mode [monitoring for objects moving when the dash camera is already in parking mode] is one of the three supported parking modes for the Elite series of dash cameras [Power Saving Mode, Motion Based, Time-Lapse].

My question would be what is the behavior when you power the Elite10 via ODB2? Is it the same behavior as the 3-wire hardwire cable?
Cause with the previous models the behavior would be pretty much the same regardless the power source and the reason I’m asking is cause they advertise the ODB2 as a power option and they don’t mention any changes to the logic.
Does anyone know of tested this part?

The Elite series of dash cameras relies on the power source's ACC power state being the determining factor of when the dash camera enters into and exits from parking mode. If powered by an OBD-II power adapter, the OBD-II power adapter's logic regarding turning on/off ACC power to the dash camera will determine when the dash camera enters into and exits from parking mode.

This video contains daytime driving video samples from four 4K UHD front dash cameras that use the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 image sensor.

I now have three dash cameras with 4K rear cameras in my Chevy Caprice. [BlackVue Elite 10, VIOFO A229 Ultra, 70mai T800]. I wanted to see how each handled direct sunlight exposure and with the vehicle rotated 180 degrees away from the sun.

Is the VIOFO the only one where you can read the license plate?
