I'm trying to update the Mini 0801 firmware that I just received from China, but the support person is gone for the weekend and left no instructions.

What exactly you trying to translate from Russian to English ? Does Google translator has any help ?

I'm trying to figure out how to update the firmware of my mini 0801 based on the instructions of the Russian proclaim cx4 (which is basicly the same cam). My Chinese vender emailed me the .bin file with no instructions.

Inside the RAR file with software is a readme file. Transalted with google:
ProCam_CX4_FW_20130823.rar

"Firmware (FW VER: 20130823 ) for DVRs Procam CX4 version 2.0
with built-in memory of 8 GB.

changes:
1) Improved audio recording
2) Increased stability of the device
3) Improved video quality ( bitrate 15,5 mbit / s)

How to install the firmware :
1) Format memory card on a PC or on the device
2) Copy the root of the memory card file firmware-NO1.bin
3) Insert the memory card into the
4) Turn on the device (make sure the device is fully charged ! : If the device turns off during the firmware , it is no longer included !) Allowed the firmware to the connected power supply.
5 ) On the issue of "Update " select YES .
Please note, if the unit does not issue a firmware issue , rename the file in the firmware-NO1.bin firmware-NO1-SPI-OV2710FLIP-TB15-M8452.bin
6) Format the card after flashing ."
