Custom firmware BlackVue DR550GW-2CH

Well, after fighting with the thing for an hour this morning I was able to get the custom firmware to *sort of* work. Downgrading did not work for me as described...and it broke the wifi for a long time.

Anyway, the unit is recording, live view says "custom" in the corner where it says the version, but I still cannot set the bitrate, or hit the config from a browser. Any ideas?

so, you are using the custom firmware interface through the web browser right?
(not the app)

I'm trying to use the web browser, but I get a 404 error on loading the php page.

to get back to original you will have to first install version 2, then 2.002. Thats how I went back and its been stable ever since (3 weeks) only issue if the faulty power magic pro which cuts out, but waiting for the replacement to be delivered.

I put 2.000E on the SD card, but when I put it in, I still get the "different version number" error.

Also, for the problem I was having with the custom software, I still cannot hit the port 8080 web server. I put together a little CGI script that verifies the tarball is being extracted, but it seems like the web server isn't running.

Help!

Ok, so I think the problem was I was copying the whole Blackvue folder over, and not just the System folder with the images.

I was able to downgrade to 2.000, but the Live View still showed "Custom_2.000.1.3". I tried to upgrade to 2.002, but it doesn't want to take it (it says "upgrading..." but never gets to the part where it finishes and reboots).

And now, I'm having the problem again where wifi won't turn on.

Is there anyway to just restore EVERYTHING on this to bone stock?

I had this the first time, then the second time it whinged about it being a language difference?
But then the third time it took fine.
I did nothing more than unplug it and start again!.

Think that's posted in the wrong section - that's the standard, not custom firmware 🙂

And who says that this firmware?
So it is not the firmware, and the viewer.

Sorry??? I don't understand?
You posted a standard (BV) firmware update in the (your) custom firmware thread... that's all.?! It was only an observation.

Yes no question, I can delete.

I'm still stuck on this. I can load 2.000, but can't load 2.002. Also, wifi is no longer working. I posted this on the russian site, and the same offer will stand here - I'll pay $100 USD to whomever helps me solve this. I want either 2.002E or the custom1.3 working with wifi.

Are you working on 2.000 ok with wifi on now?

Right now I have 2.000 loaded (although the videos still say "custom_2.000.1.3" in the corner), and the wifi is not working.

First of all then we need to get your camera back to stock. So you have the original micro sd card that came with the camera. I wonder if plugging it in with the original firmware might down grade it to stock

I do, but it's been formatted.

So I think the downgrades/upgrades still aren't taking as well (even when it does successfully reboot). Here are the versions from the logs...

I've still got mine at home. I can copy the contents and send it you if that might help. Currently at work.
