DDpai Mini 2

Interesting , it's like even they condone and promote because the false advertising = sales .

Very poor attitude .

Actually - sorry - I was mistaken. Ddpai is NOT the seller on Amazon. It’s wankaku. They seem to answer questions very promptly, but obviously believe the product works the way the diagram shows, which it seems it does not.

I can report that my first test of this after upgrading to the very latest firmware ALSO indicates that the camera now properly wakes up after autoshutdown. Well done to Fabio at Wankaku (DDPai reseller) for working over the last couple of months to sort this out. Great job!

Hello.
I am the new owner of the mini2 camera and I do not have many experiences yet. The webcam connects to the phone and everything is ok. However, I want to have access to it from the radio Xtrons TE706PL (android 8.0) which I have in the car. At first, I could not install Google Play - incompatibility, but I found APK and installed it. The radio connects to the camera and the only problem is in the menu view SETTINGS - you can not see the entire menu - the last visible line is Auto Download Snapshot. No possibility to move the menu, no access to the App Advanced Settings. Is there any chance to solve this problem?
I apologize for my English, I use Google.

Regards Jacatata

Thank you for the quick response, I think the program for the car camera should be compatible with the multimedia devices in cars. I hope the manufacturer gets the same idea:) Best regards

Hey everyone,

I am testing DDPai Mini 2 and I am a bit thrown off by the lack of clarity...is this consistent with what others have?

I mounted my Mini 2 on the rearview mirror so the angle is not perfect as it gets a lot of the dashboard but even so, I would expect sharper results at 2550x1440 resolution(although it is only at 10.5mbps bitrate). I will try to post comparison with my A307 dashcam which has almost identical bitrate at 1080P(11.5-12mbps). I will try setting the camera to the 1080P mode. I have a feeling the footage will look better with the lower resolution at the same bitrate.

I am able to make out the place of the car in front of me but the cars to the sides are pretty blurry.

This was Peninsula/ San Francisco CA area with 60 degree sunny weather. I took pictures with the cellphone DDPAI app while stopped at traffic lights.

________________

Night time quality is ok and I can make out the plate in front of me if I get right up on the other bumper and the vehicles are stopped. I tried taking picture grabs even with slightly movement like rolling to a stop and it gets blurred.

ThiEye E7 so far has by far the best quality in part because it is a 4k camera. But it is in the same ballpark price wise at ~80$(at least that's what I got it on Gearbest with a deal). Now it is best price at 88$ on AliExpress. I can comfortably grab plates off vehicles passing me in neighboring lanes on the freeway.

My guess GitUp F1 is probably the single best dashcam as far as form factor, performance and price. 107$ on AliExpress (you could also potentially get $4 coupon).

Something wrong there , images are grainy .

I removed the dash mat and despite the glare, the quality did improve.

I recorded in 1080P in daytime and 1440P during the night. I will record daytime in 1440P with mat off to see how much better the quality will be. Though for some reason I could not download any videos over Wifi today on two separate tries. Not sure what the issue is...I was unable to check the quality video wise.

I am impressed at the clarity of the plates with some lights. The plates get blurred during motion but during mostly stationary movements they are fairly good.

You need to reposition / possibly use the cinema view to get rid of that dash board as the view is centering on it .

I just realized I was using a fake Samsung EVO 64gb card. Facepalm. It's the orange/white older type which has a lot of fakes on Ebay. That was the reason I could not download any of the videos...

The camera has good/great video quality while stationary with decent amount of light however it does not handle vibration too well. While driving it is very difficult to catch any plates of passing vehicles.

Here are some 1440P videos:

2560 X 1440 @ 10.6-10.7MPBS @25FPS. I was surprised to discover the 1440P was only at 25FPS.

Doesn't look clear enough maybe how it's uploaded to YouTube ?

Your playback quality is only 1080P I swear I used to see the Techmoan video of the M6+ available as playback available in 1440P but doesn't seem to be now ??

To see 1440P you must record , upload in 1440P and have the playback screen resolution of 1440P .

I recorded the video at 1440@25fps and it definitely looked better initially. When stationary, I could get decent recording of the plate in front of me. I think Youtube partially degrades the file.

Here's my generic (sold also brand name under Zeepin and Azdome among others) A307 Novatek 96658 Sony IMX323 dashcam recording side by side with Mini 2. I tried to find a clip at about the same time as Mini 2 footage I posted earlier. It's running 1080P @ 30fps 12.3mbps.

THIEYE E7 4K @30FPS 62.6 MBPS STABILIZATION ON: I got it on Gearbest in March for 75.99$(cheapest currently is probably AliExpress at 88$ now). In day time with good lighting, I can read passing license plates on the road next to me(same or opposite direction).

Random thoughts:

It seems like many of the improvements have already been made on Mini 3 over the Mini 2 from what I saw. The camera is now removable from the base, 1600P@30FPS, 360 degree swivel, built in memory, etc. I do have to say I like the form factor and simplicity of DDPAI Mini series more so than the MINI 0801-0906 series(I used 0806 for 2 years and it was a PITA). DDPAI also has a more upscale look and feel to it.

I am tempted to wonder how a camera in this form factor would have been with Novatek chipset and Sony sensor 322/323/291.

It would be interesting if some dashcam company decided to use zoom lenses 2-4x.
