Hello, I recently purchased Veckle Mini 0906 dash cam and installed in vehicle a few days ago. Prior to installation I updated to latest firmware (Build Jan.24.2018) and updates settings per my preference. Installation was completed on Feb 11 2018 and no issues until today Feb 14 2018. During use, the dash cam reset itself back to defaults and time changed by 5 hours. The log file showing the error is "20180214_121550.log" I have attached screenshot showing before and after, and log file before issue (20180214_120031.log) and the one that has the reset (20180214_121550).

So far I am very pleased with dash cam and hoping someone can provide assistance. Thank you.

@Rayman.Chan will be able to follow up for you, the engineers are on holidays for Chinese New Year so it might be 10 days or so before they will be able to look at it

Thank you for reply, sounds good. Happy Chinese New Year to all celebrating :)

The only thing I had done differently when it first happened was I began using the USB port in the cigar lighter charger. So I stopped using it. A few days later it reset again while using on Feb 20, 2018. I'm going to try turning off GPS and see if that helps. I have attached the two relevant log files. You can see the crash happens and reset but I'm not subject matter export and can't determine cause.

have you tried the firmware without log function?
maybe the log function take too much resource which bring unstabitily.

here we made a firmware base on Jan.24 version but removed log function, please help to use this firmware to figure out.
if it is confirmed to be caused by log function, we will remove log in furture firmware.

and there is another possibility for the setting reset when vehicle parking:
the built-in RTC battery need 2 hours to be full recharged, if you drive very short everyday, the battery may not be full recharged, so the camera will lost setting when parking without hardwire kit; just as Joiin have expounded.

Thank you. Yesterday I did turn off GPS log/stamp completely off. I can try the firmware you linked and report back, so far it has happened about once a week since initial purchase/installation.

For other possibility I do drive generally drive short distances mostly however the 2nd incident on Feb 20th (logs in previous post), it happened while the car was turned on for a while, I was in park/idle waiting for someone. I may have turned off the car but it would have been brief before turning back on.

I applied new firmware and formatted microSD card on March 1st. Since then no further random resetting back to defaults. It seems issue is resolved since it was happening about once a week. I will continue testing and report back in another week or so.

I even managed to capture minor road rage incident within the time frame.

As of 3/20 no further issues with random resets after testing new firmware on 3/1.

Bad luck, right after saying no further random reset, its now stuck at boot up. Doesn't go past the splash screen and power on chime.

will it start up with no memory card installed?
I took the MicroSD (SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSDXC UHS-I ) card out and still does the same thing.

see if you can reload the firmware, the bootloader starts before the logo screen comes up so it should be able to reload it

YES!!!! That did the trick! It's back to starting up normally.

I had to review some recording the other day and noticed at some point the camera had reverted back to default. So problem is not solved. I'm just glad my device is not bricked after the last incident with booting up. But did want to confirm it still reverts back to defaults using the latest firmware provided via the forum that had no logging.

@Rayman.Chan any further updates? Would knowing what custom settings I'm using help, maybe compare with others or attempt to reproduce issue? Thanks.

How widespread is the setting reset issue? Does it apply to everyone? I got one for my wife, hers has the issue. I got one for myself which will be here this week.

The default settings still get the date/time information from the GPS, it just shows the GMT time and not the local time on screen and in the log, is that right? I am thinking if I should just live with it...

I've also encountered the reset issue 2-3 times having only had the mini 0906 since March. On one occasion it got stuck in boot mode, as TFHDC mentioned in post 10 above, and this was resolved by reloading the firmware.

It would be helpful to know if the issue is being looked into as it doesn't seem to be isolated to a few users. The micro sd card I'm using is a 128gb Samsung EVO plus. I drive 1 hour or more on a single journey at least 3 days times a week so wouldn't expect the cam battery to be lacking a full charge.

My cam display is now set to go into standby after 15 seconds. If it does, I know the cam is ok. If the screen remains on, I can then pick up its has reset itself and need to reapply my preferred settings.

At the moment, it's more of a minor inconvenience and something I can live with, but if it happens regularly, I can imagine most users finding it very annoying.

The tech support of the seller told me to charge the camera for 2 hours before first use. So, I did, and see if it works...

What do you want to "charge" without battery? The capacitor? 2 Hours?
