Hello,

I am very disappointed
, Yesterday I received my DOD LS460W, the recordings are far worse than my DOD LS300W. Very very annoying, high price and not to use. (FW: FG1406260EN11 / E00ECA00A01)

pale, blurred, blurry, WDR works very poorly

Sorry for my english, i hope understand.

I'm going to use for this annoying result, the DOD LS300W again. Here are my screenshots of this morning and afternoon:

My unboxing video from yesterday DOD LS460W

It's not just me having problems then! DOD definitely need to release new firmware for this camera - I've not tried the replacement yet but think I will be going down the refund line for now

I will send my dealer in U.K. via e-mail this thread and I'm hoping for a firmware update ... or other solution

They did send me a replacement unit but I've not tried it yet.

It definitely needs a new firmware for sure to iron out some of the issues.

It's a shame as it should be performing as well as, if not better than the Panorama, as potentially this is using the IMX222 sensor as opposed to the IMX122.

If this shows the lens going blurry in hot weather it's going back for a refund too.

Please login with your experience (replacement unit) in the next days, many thanks

No records are sharp, road signs are unclear. it's enough for me. I want to send back LS460W and take my old DOD LS300W is very clear.

There's definitely work required on this one - you'd have thought they'd at least test against their old product to make sure the new one is better!

Firmware work is definitely required but whether they'll release to the public is another matter. To be fair DOD UK are releasing some firmwares for other cameras so we shall see.

This is the answere from my UK DOD Dealer fom 07-08-2014:

Hello,

I will forward all of this to manufacturer and get back to you once I will receive any feedback. I am so sorry that you are experiencing with problems.

Have a good day,

That is similar to what I received - we're both on the same firmware but hopefully a new one will come soon that will help.

The focus issue in heat is a problem though and I'm hoping this one will be better.

I'm just looking at your pics and I think all dash cams currently have problems like you see in the tunnel - I'm yet to find one that's sharp in the dark as they ramp up the exposure times.

Have you tried lowering the EV value thinking about it?

This is more of a software thing causing the problems you have - basically to keep a bright image it's taking a longer exposure, so in theory dropping it back will result in a slightly darker picture but at the same time sharper.

Might be worth a go - I'm going to try the same.

I have tried all settings, no significant improvement.
now, the device is again packed, i will sent return.
I'm waiting on RMA email
I want to my LS300W still have a LS330W or GT550WS
and the wide viewing angle LS460w / LS430W not like it.

I have Feedback...

Hello Dirk,
I have feedback from manufacturer:
"
Yes, we've found this thread, too. This problem is highly concerned and
we're working with SONY to find the solution now,
it's no doubt a serious problem and we're doing our best to make it ASAP, as
still it will take us some time,
that we would appreciate for your understanding, and we will keep you
informed for any update news!
"
Thanks,

Now the direct comparison

DOD LS460W (FW: FG1406260EN11 / E00ECA00A01)

DOD LS300W (FW: 2328031 Seezeus) initially at purchase (FW: 20130326)
The company DOD has not given me any updated firmware, so I had to forced Seezeus FW use for the new functions.
Although written inquiry with disclosure serial number I have still no original DOD FW

Hmmmm, very sad. :(
Everyone had high hopes for this device with sensor Sony. I thought this would be even better than DOD LS430W. Soon I will get LS460W from my Russian DOD dealer for tests. I will look at it
Don't want to believe that things are so bad o_O

In certain conditions the LS460W is great, and in others like early morning sunrise or late just before sunset it blurs things because the shutter is being held open longer to make the image bright.

It looks like they should be able to fix it in firmware to get a shaper image at those times, but that would also mean a darker image.

The issue with looping 2 min clips on 64GB cards should also be fixable via a firmware update.

The issue with the lens losing focus in heat is a hardware issue though which nothing in software can fix.

I'm still undecided what to do with mine in all honesty as I've sat and looked at raw clips from lots of cameras and when it's on song it's beating everything else I have.

I really need to do an LS430W vs LS460W side by side like we've seen touched on before.

for me, no experiments with LS460W, first back to LS330W+GPS and my old LS300W
