When hardwired via fuse tap into an accessory fuse slot, will the Thinkware iVolt Mini charge whenever the vehicle is in accessory mode, but prior to actually starting the engine? Or, does the iVolt Mini have a BMS that only allows for charging when it sees a voltage of around 14.6 V, which is the voltage that would be present when the engine is running and the alternator is supplying power?
Thinkware's literature, as far as what I could find, states merely that the iVolt Mini charges when the "car is on/running." This language seems a bit ambiguous to me.
Upon calling Thinkware tech support, I was told that the answer to this was not known, and that testing would need to be done. I find that hard to believe.
Thank you,
Andy
