I recently acquired the 70mai A800SE dashcam, a model boasting front-facing 4K HD recording with HDR.

I'd long been torn between opting for the flagship model or an entry-level variant.

Today, I'll share my initial impression.

Specs — 70mai A800se (quick)
True 4K recording (3840×2160).
Supercapacitor power module (better high-temperature tolerance than lithium batteries).
No built-in 4G / no native cellular remote access. :(
(Standard dashcam features: loop recording, parking mode, etc.)

Impression
A practical, no-nonsense upgrade: 4K footage is noticeably clearer for plates and distant details, and the supercapacitor is far more reliable in high heat — I found it tolerates prolonged sun exposure better than my old A810. The only clear drawback is the lack of 4G — a significant shortcoming for remote access.

To be honest, I haven't personally tried the current 70mai A800s model. However, purchasing the A800se represents a significant upgrade for me (having previously used a 2K dashcam).

I have no major complaints regarding the image quality.:)

But I'd be interested to hear what other A800se users think!

In a few days, I'll be conducting some practical tests while driving. I hope this will prove helpful to everyone.

Good to see it's a true 4k sensor, remember reading somewhere it's a 8MP GalaxyCore sensor. Shame about 4G - but can't have everything at such a low price. Then again some people just want it to be set and forget!

I couldn't agree more! When I got hold of this machine, I reckoned it was well worth the price for a genuine 4K device.

But we can't expect low prices and full functionality, can we? At least that's my view – the lack of 4G capability is a bit of a shame, I must say.

Don't worry, I'm sure in a couple of years at this price point, 4G capability will be supported. It's happend with WiFi so I'd expect the same

After a hectic week, I've finally found time to observe the A800se's actual performance.🙂

This is a minor road I travelled along. To be honest, I have no major complaints about the A800se's ability to read number plates whilst driving. For the average driver, this outcome is both reasonable and satisfactory. At night, perhaps such clarity might not be achievable, but it is understandable. I've simply captured a few photos for reference. I hope they prove useful to everyone

The area where I'm staying has been bathed in sunshine these past few days. I reckon a CPL filter would be a splendid accessory for reducing glare from the sun's reflection.

Does anyone know of any official outlets selling CPL filters for the A800se? I've spotted some on AliExpress, but I'm not entirely sure about their authenticity.
(There are a great many counterfeit items on AliExpress, and the prices are certainly tempting.)

You can buy from 70mai official store on AliExpress. The filter is the same for A510/A410/A800s/A500s but NOT A810.

Good price for 4K front and a back camera, and supplied SD card.

How do I save/extract routes (kml, gpx, cvs etc) from the recordings of a 70mai Dash Cam 4K A800SE camera, firmware 1.4.83 ww/29.12.2025

There is a file on the miro sdcard called GPSData000001.txt which has all the gps information however I don't know if this applies to all of the 70mai dashcams.
I found this file on my M800 memory copy.

Next:
It needs to be converted as it is considered 'raw' data. I don't know what that really means but thats what I read.

so to get around this problem download a program called
1769950499754.webp

from here

here is the results
1769950611483.webp

note it does show a proper map underneath it but I chose to just show the mapping part for privacy reasons.

Hope that helps.

I have asked 70mai multiple times to create a video player for their dashcam footage. Only recently I have been told they intend to create one but no time frame was given.

Until mid-January 2026, I found this txt file on the card, I suspect that after the firmware update it is no longer generated, because I can no longer find it on the card.

Wait a minute! I found the file GPSData000001.txt! It didn't show up on a laptop, but it does on a desktop!
