GPS, yes or no?

I used to do alot of boating with a power boat with a Loran C and GPS. "Lag time" is really visible there. Cutting the engines from 3000 rpms to 1000 rpms and coasting and It was still marking the old speed for about 15 seconds. I thought about that on my GPS component on my dash cam when it was working but never really checked into it.
 
I can brake hard in my little red car, and then have dashcam GPS indicate i am still doing 40-50 km/h where i am actually stopped.

I assume its the same if you put the foot down on the trottle, but thats mute in my little red car, not much get up and go in the 70 BHP or what ever my car have.
