Hardwiring

Well, that's a problem, too! When car is turned off, the radio gets power. When you turn on the radio, it will say that in 1hr it will shut down. And i think the timer is in the radio. So probably it's best to use license plate fuse, since it is 100% sure on only when car is on.
 
What I meant was that in some cars there are spare fuse sockets with power on one side (usually the top half) that are for optional accessories, and dont have a bottom half to anywhere.
What I have done is buy fuses that have a wire soldered to them and just push them into one of them. I meter them so I know which is permanent and which is IGN switched.
I have a Power Magic to allow parking mode so need both. . With the type I use they just fit in neatly and dont stick up above the others.
Dont know if you can buy them in other countries but should be on Ebay.
