So I am looking to put a dash cam in my 2018 Mazda 6.
It was one 12v socket to power it and the power is on even when the car is turned off!
I am the first to admit I can sometimes be forgetful and am certain I won"t always remember to unplug it!
Obviously I am worried about the battery draining.
The car is a lease so hard wiring it isn't an option.
I'm a Paramedic and work 72-96 hours at a stretch and during the polar vortex winters in Northern Indiana....I don't want to go out and find a dead battery after a long shift.
Are there any dash cams that will turn off automatically after the car in parked for a period of time?
The car does have a USB port that turns off automatically when the car turns off....but I borrowed a friends dash cam and plugged it there to see if it would power it....and the dash cam did come on but went
Are there any other solutions?
Thanks so much in advance.

buy yourself a Rhundo power supply, can plug into your cig socket for power and has timed and low voltage outputs, you can find them on Amazon, eBay etc

So i find it on Amazon. link to it, and then its gone.
Jeff do really run a evil company.

Replaced by a fleabay one now.

You could use a fuse tap like this. However, ask your service department which fuse can be tapped into. Because this only adds onto an existing circuit of another part that turns on or off with ignition (like a fan or radio) it should cause no problems. Because modern cars are to computerized asking the service department which fuse you can use seems necessary.

Probably want a hardwire kit to go along with the fuse tap.

<smacks head> You will need at a minimum some electric wire and a cigarette lighter socket to go with the fuse tap.
I installed an aftermarket radio in my car. I tapped into the ignition on/off power wire. I added a socket similar to this and used some electric wire I already had.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/173960036431I should have mentioned this needed part earlier. <smacks head again>
