This is on US 75, near Durant, Oklahoma, and the big Choctaw casino.

The funny thing is, he really wasn't making much progress. I was under the speed limit, and still caught up to him a few miles and traffic lights ahead....only to see him repeat the same move.
(in the distance)

Yeah, I've always wondered what motivates those people to want to get to the next traffic light before me.

When commuting every day one gets very familiar with traffic flow and light timing. There was one section of one of my commutes where I could drive about 1o miles on surface streets and never stop at a light because they were timed for 45MPH traffic flow. (At the time I was starting work at 6:00AM so there was virtually no traffic.) Invariably someone would pass me and get stopped at the next light where I would just cruise past him before he got back up to speed and passed me again only to be stopped at the next light 1/2 mile down the road. What's really baffling is you would think they would see what's happening and make a change - but no, they would just keep doing it. No at all unusual to see the same car day after day, after day, after day.

This seem to happen so often it is good we have a smily for it in here

When I was first married, my ex, from the land of dashcam factories, would complain about the way I drove in town. Not flooring it to get to the next redlight, like all the other traffic. When I explained she would see the same cars, at the next redlight when we got there, she'd think about it a minute, and tell me 'You still wrong. You do something wrong. They right. Why drive different than them? You wrong.'

Needless to say her driving lessons didn't go too well....or our fairly short marriage.
:)

I keep trying to think of a term that fits the way that pickup drives...'Yank and bank', 'point and shoot', 'Stomp and romp?"

Like playing 'whack a mole' on the highway.

Well, exactly that! Same light but not *behind* you anymore.

Actually in the lane next to me as I go cruising past them while they get back up to speed - again. :D

"Break and Brake" - as in break from the starting line and brake for the light.

Pedal tap dance, meaning you are stomping 1 or maybe 2 pedals brutally all the time.
It could allso be named Automotive riverdance :D either you are on 1 foot or the other. all along prancing around looking like a dumbass.
