Is this a mini 0805?

I would say it's a fake, that or a rebranded model.

I bought this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B00OUF36IO
about a month ago, it was listed as an 0803 but arrived as an 0805.

Considering i ordered it with 8gb internal mem, gps and a 32gb external card for just a few quid
more than your listing. I would say the price was about right.

I would say i've never heard of the vendor though, so who knows.

I took a gamble on one of these and it arrived today. Wasn't sure what to expect because as said, it seems to be a bit cheap. It does seem to be legit though as I have the 2560x1080 option that only the 0805/0806 have and I also installed the latest 0805 firmware on it without bricking it. So far so good.

Hi Zheez,

I bought two of these Monkon Dash cameras and they do appear to be genuine 0805's. As has been said, the manual is useless and appears to be for an 0803. Could you point me to the firmware upgrade you used successfully on this model. Has it improved or introduced any new features ? Did it change the menu at all ?

cheers Hugh

Hi there,

I used the firmware that's linked to here: https://dashcamtalk.com/mini-0805/#Firmware

To be fair I'm not sure if it improved or changed anything as I only had the camera for about 5 minutes before upgrading. The menu appears to be the same but I didn't spend any real time going through the options etc before so I'm not sure if there's anything new or tweaked. What's the version showing up as on yours?

Missed out on this item last week - checked today and found it under yet another description:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B00SZNPORS
Bought it this time - costing 64.99GBP

I've noticed four popular Dash Cams branded Monkon on Amazon UK - the 0801, 0805, G1WH and G1W with a few lesser known models. One of them was a touch dubious (the MA-6) as it was listed as recording in H264 but having Novatek 96220 chip.... Overall the seller has positive feedback so I am hopeful I won't be diddled.
