The joovuu has gone into my recycle box, to drop off at best buy for electronics recycling. I've given up. If I can't get looped recording working it's worthless to me.

Is anyone still using one of these?

For a bit of background, I had the support of JooVuu and ran their cameras on a Formula Vee racecar (before that was trendy to do!) for a few years. I also used it stuck to the top of my helmet on a motorcycle, and for the past 6+ years it's been in my road cars as the main dashcam. And it's been pretty brilliant, I must say!

Very reliable, with a couple of extremely rare moments where it won't come on properly and needs to be unplugged from the power then plugged back in. Certainly more reliable than any GoPro.

However, today I decided to have a go at changing the settings so it doesn't think all my footage is from 2015, and found you need the long-since-gone app to make changes... Is there any other way to get around this?

I fully realise that I got my use out of this cam, and whilst it seems like it will happily keep plodding on forever, it's probably time to upgrade it for dashcam useage, at least...

Welcome to the forum JCRacing.

I doubt so, by now they are ancient technology.
I used them for a while back in the day, one as L side camera and another one as Zoom camera, i had no problems but of course after a few years they did die.
Or that is the Zoom camera died, the L side camera got replaced by a dual channel system, which after a couple of years also died, so ATM no side or zoom cameras in my car.

I found a working link to the APK mobile app... not sure installing a 7 year old app is a great idea, and I don't want to be the guinea pig for that! 😀

It seems a shame to throw it away as it's still so reliable.

Well i do not like the buy and throw away culture, but even in this match box style camera things have moved on quite a bit, and regular box shape action cameras are on a whole other planet in comparison with things like 4K / 120 FPS being standard

I fully realise that I got my use out of this cam, and whilst it seems like it will happily keep plodding on forever, it's probably time to upgrade it for dashcam useage, at least...

What do you replace it by?

Dashcams don't tend to come that shape, but you do want a dashcam, because action cams don't come with Sony Starvis 2 sensors or proper dashcam HDR.

I tend to recommend the Viofo VS1 as a small dashcam, but I'm not sure that works on a Formula car, might work OK on a helmet, but it doesn't have batteries...

I still use Mobius cams as I have waterproof cases for them for racing and riding.
For the road I'm more likely to chance an AliExpress cam if I can find something that looks decent, as I don't see the point spending £200 on a dashcam!
In all honesty, you don't need most of the extra features they pack into everything now - I just want something that records clearly and never fails.
