Well.... I've finally have had it with Los Angeles drivers. After nearly getting into an accident yesterday and again this morning, I broke down and bought a dash cam. I decided on the mini 801 after watching some dash cam review vids on YouTube and combined with the mostly positive Amazon reviews it was enough to pull the trigger.
So I ordered the cam today (prime next day shipping! woo hoo!) I also ordered a Samsung 32gb class 6 card as that seems to be one of the less buggy cards to use with this cam. Hey, as long as it's quick enough to record 1080p video and not mess up that's good enough for me!
I'm going to be mounting it in my GMC Yukon and I'm trying to decide on a location. I think behind the rear view mirror would be best but I have a question.... like many people I want it to be as discrete as possible so I'm going to cover the 1080p lettering on the front with electrical tape. But I was also thinking of mounting it so it's entirely behind the blue tint at the top of the windshield. Has anyone done this? Does it completely ruin the quality of the video during the day and night? Just seems like if the quality drop isn't too extreme it might be a good spot for it.
What do you guys and gals think?
