My A119 V2

ts files don't need to be closed which is why this will work, the downside is finding a player that will handle ts files with map detail
on my WinXP I never had the map displayed in a RegistratorViewer, it just didn't work from the start, so I have nothing to loose. :) RegistratorViewer doesn't play .TS files. today I use more PotPlayer than RegistratorViewer.
and I don't have any last "corrupted" files anymore after I replaced the capacitors over 5 weeks ago. I even use Lexar 633x 128gb sd cards again. :)

I would be inclined to use .TS even after the capacitors are replaced, trumps seeing where you were on a map. :p

capacitors aren't even needed when using TS format, can cut power at anytime and the file will be intact

Yeah that's what I gathered. Precisely why I tested it out with the busted capacitor still inside. Still going to get them replaced.

This seems to be ideal for dashcams. Are there any drawbacks with it in this usage?

the one major drawback is there was no player that supported GPS mapping detail when using TS files, I remember speaking with Vadim about this a few years ago and he said it wasn't something that Registrator Viewer would be adding, no idea if it was a technical limitation or not, don't know if Dashcam Viewer could support TS files or not, that would be a question for @traveler perhaps

Comparison with the Mobius Maxi. Combined clips are 1080p.

Mobius Maxi (FW V. 1.90) - 2.7K @ 30fps, Exposure metering - Centre-Weighted, Video Quality - Extreme Fine.

Bitrate - 60 Mbit/s (CBR). 3 minutes file segment (.MP4) - 1.36GB.

Bitrate - Approximately 40 Mbit/s (VBR). 3 minutes file segment (.TS) - 550MB.

Image quality has changed with the 4.0 update, looks overexposed with WDR on, especially in the first clip (night). Bitrate with .TS is much higher than with .MP4 on the previous firmware, one clip it's 40 Mbit/s and the next it's 50 Mbit/s but the file size is the same, 550MB? Will compare with WDR turned off as well.

I wonder if the higher bitrates being processed adds any appreciable heat to the cam? Doesn't&t matter as long as it can handle that.

not as many free editing options, from a technical perspective though there's no real downside to TS

FCP didn't recognise it either. Trimmed off a second using QT and that saved the trim as .MOV, took it from there.

Looking better with WDR turned off.

This one confuses me, looks brighter with WDR off. I mean if WDR is supposed to capture greater detail in the shadows while not blowing out the highlights, doesn't seem to be doing so. Would someone care to explain?

Top (OFF), bottom (ON)

Working as it should. Did the opposite last night, pretty sure off was off and on was on, didn't mix them up.

Got them replaced. Had the A119 running using .TS and didn't feel any urgency to do it sooner.

Going to leave this one set to TS.
