Hi everyone,

I had Rexing V1P for 2 months, but I found that is was not reliable as it always stop recording due to the heat. So I just got my SG9665GC V3 64GB from Straidfield (Australia retailer, not sure I should post here or not). The build quality is good, very solid but the recorded videos were even worse than the Rexing V1P.

Yesterday after parking my car under the sun for 30mins, I found that the video was very blurry. I think the lens was seriously affected by the heat. The soft focus issue?

And today the cam was running for about 4 hours, the outside temp was 26 degree celsius with CPL filter on. The recorded videos were no way looks like 1080p.

I tried to upload a video, but the Internet in Australia is horrible!! Can anyone tell me whether my cam is faulty? thank you.

I won't have a chance to view these for awhile since I'm on mobile in Hong Kong. Rick ( @jokiin ) the manufacture , is on a plane as we speak as well.

Are you recording while parked or driving only?

Can you test without the CPL to rule that out?

Did you clean the windows inside and out with the nonammonia-based cleaner to prevent light refraction ?

doesn't look all that bad, but we really need to see a full video file, upload to https://mega.nz/ is good, and as said above, make sure the screen and lens etc.. is clean, maybe play with some setting to see how it goes, but if focus goes out, maybe a faulty one which happens occasionally, take back to supplier or PM jokiin and get a replacement, they will look after you, but first we need to see a video file where you think theres an issue.

The picture when parked seems good.
Made sure your cam was joint firm on the wildsheild.

Pictures dont look that bad, detail could be better, I too have just purchased SG9665GC V3 and get the same sort of quality. The main problem that I have found is I cant read the number plates, especially the white ones unless I am stopped behind a vehicle. Looks like you have the same problem looking at 2, 4 and parked shot .

Hi,

Those pictures were from driving but the last one was parked.

Regarding to the cleanliness of windshield, lens of the cam and the filter, I cleaned all of them before I mounted the cam, I also checked the lens and the cpl filter before posting this reply. I can confirm that they are all clean.

I will try to post video tonight.

I hope the Aussie retailer is as good as you guy.

they should be, if not just PM jokiin and he will look after you when he gets off the plane, he's the big boss and the manufacturer.

Strathfield Car Radios have a good reputation and should be fine if a replacement is needed and if they need more proof send them here.

I'm able to play the videos on my iPhone but not seeing anything that stands out as far as being out of the norm for what to expect. (Viewing from a smaller screen though)

This wasn't the best example to inspect focus though. You might want to drive slowly around a full parking lot or even 15ft from the following focus chart.

focus does look a little bit out on first one on a large screen, hurts my eyes a bit looking at it, leave it up to jokiin to confirm when he gets around to it whenever he gets a large screen.

Thanks buddy

The video looks extremely well on my phone, but not on my monitor.

I'll see if I can download or not, I'm on the way to China right now and may or may not be able to access the files until I'm back in HK on Monday, if there's an issue Strathfield will be able to replace it though, won't be a problem for them to do that

Thanks for that. What is the best way to tell them the problem? I bought the cam from their eBay store not their retail store.

I think I am better to wait until you watch the video and confirm whether my cam is faulty ot not.

Have a safe trip.

Will check it as soon as I can access the files, if it was bought from Strathfield Concord then Ross will be the guy to sort it out for you, won't be an issue

To be honest, I'm seeing the same symptom today as I'm flicking through my recordings.
When the car has been parked in the sun for a while, the picture is clearly blurrier than when it was parked in the shade and/or the temp was generally lower.
It's hard to say if it's as bad as cocacola, it's still early spring here and I only got the SG a few months ago, but there's definitely a difference between hot/cold.

(One might argue it's the sun shining straight onto the lens, but I assure you that's not what's causing the loss in sharpness. It's just the only clear comparison I have of the same scene.)
(Screens are not native resolution, (using the EVR renderer in Registrator Viewer), but it illustrates the point.)

Before pic 1 the car was parked in the sun for a few hours. Temp outside about 15°C. Drove 3-4 minutes and parked somewhere else. That's pic 1.
Pic 2 is when I was about to drive off again about an hour later. Car was cooled by AC during the earlier 3-4 minute trip, so inside temp was already reduced, and while parked, shade soon covered the windshield, so inside temp never rose as high as before pic 1. I guess this allowed the lens to "settle" back to normal/sharp.

This is kind of worrying... I will try and find another good clip.

No, those are framegrabs using registrator viewer of roughly the last & first frame of those 2 recordings. No parked recording.

i have downloaded and see it in my monitor. It's good, nomal, sharp.
Maybe your expectation is too high for a 200$ camera. :)
PS: I like your footage and will save them for advertisement. The color of sky is fantastic.

:p i have to say: it's not out of focus but because of ray of light. Why dont you move your car somewhere (another angle from sun) and post your captured ?
